What, pray tell, are we getting up so early for today? Oh no, it’s cause Poppy isn’t here! I had a little trouble settling down last night cause I was wondering where he was…
When Poppy is gone Mamaw and I don’t get all excited about doing anything really. We’re gonna spend the day just kinda “playing” she calls it. I saw photo paper sheets over and over again and the pictures are all of ME, doing all kinds of different stuff. Oh, I get it. She’s trying to get her journal writings all proofed by chapter and then she puts the pictures in the right places. She’s so cleaver…but I’m tired of waiting on her! She finally had to bring toys into the office for me and shut the door so I’d stop all of the barking and wanting to play, play, play.
And of course I didn’t sleep good at all. So I do take quite a lengthy nap (I think Mamaw did too). And then we went outside for a walk. The workers are finishing up on Becky’s house but so far they’re still makin lots of noise.
Mamaw said she had to go shopping—Emily graduates on Sunday. She needs new sandals to wear with her capris cause it is supposed to be 90 degrees! Now baby—that’s hot!!! She wasn’t gone too awfully long though so I really appreciated that.
I kept my eyes on the garage door most of the afternoon—I just KNEW Poppy would be home soon. And by golly—when he walked in the door I was so happy I could have peed myself but I didn’t! Oh Lord—he looks so good to me. We just had a love fest right there—him standin just inside the door and me as close to him as I could get. Mamaw knew better than to interrupt anything that special so she stayed out of the way…
We sorta just enjoyed the rest of our day knowing he was home. Mamaw and Poppy talked about his adventures and just settled in. But Poppy was tired early from all that drivin so Mamaw and me sorta went to bed early to let him get some rest—he has to work tomorrow. You know, that waterbed felt so good we fell asleep. And she didn’t wake up until 1:00 p.m.! Holy cow—I thought maybe I was gonna get to stay there all night but she picked me up very gently and put me in my kennel. We didn’t even say goodnight to each other—she just tiptoed back to her bed.
