March 17, 2010 (Happy St. Patrick's Day)

Top of the mornin’ to all ya dogs and dog lovers out there! This is the “green” day. Mamaw says you gotta wear green or get pinched. God forbid! Okay, I’ll bite—I see. It’s shower time, and getting duded up in green. Talk about a walking target!!

Okay—walk time was okay but I ended up getting sick again! Mamaw can’t figure out if I managed to “pick something up outside” I shouldn’t have, or if it was when she sprayed her hair with hair spray. I always lay right at the door of the bathroom cause we have this little game we play. She starts the blow dryer and directs it on me and I try to catch “the wind.” Well, as soon as she sprayed her hair, I began to choke. I ran into the living room and bless her heart, she knew—she came running with a towel and put it under my chin. I’m so glad I didn’t get it on the carpet!

She’s leavin Poppy and me for a while. She’s going to lunch with Judy and Vicki AT OLIVE GARDEN. Well, she’s been so good about her diet (she calls it her lifestyle change) she wants salad, breadsticks and spaghetti! Then she needs to grocery shop and get the 2010 Census papers to the post office. I’ll be in my kennel all of that time, I’m sure. Since I was sick she thinks it’s just best for me to stay quiet and rest…

Oh my gosh, she has tons of grocery sacks. Poppy just couldn’t believe all of the meat she bought. Well, she says, today was my “stock up” day because we’re about out of meat. I run to the garage as soon as I hear her. Yep, Poppy let me out while she was gone and took me outside to pee. She was afraid I’d get out the door and the garage door is open so Poppy said he’s be glad to get the groceries in so she asked if I wanted to go for a walk. Does a bear pee in the woods?

Mamaw spent the major part of what was left of the afternoon to get my blog posted, check her e-mail and return messages and read her mail. I’m still just not feeling great and the walk was harder on me than usual so I’m gonna lay on the couch with Poppy and take a nap.
It’s play time! I love it when she gets one of my animals to play with us cause she gives each one a different voice. She thinks I don’t know it is her—but I do. (giggle-giggle)  It was Dino-poo this time—he’s pretty big! He can grab my bone between his paws and Mamaw helps him hold it. My assignment, if I wish to accept it, is to try to get it away from THEM. Yes, I said them. And then one more walk, up the trail. We saw a brand new dog I’d never seen before and we “socialized” a little bit and then Mamaw said we had to walk, walk, walk. I was glad to get home—and we did just before dark.

Poppy is eating dinner and I’m trying to jump up and get some. What can I say—I’m in the doghouse. Goodnight Gracie…
