We took the bike/walk trail today. Mamaw heard the geese and wanted to share that with me. The minute they saw us, they began to let us know they didn’t want us there but Mamaw kept us moving that way—oh, not in the grass but on the trail itself. It was very interesting and if I could have gotten away from her, I’d been after them in no time! I am a hunting dog by breed you know. But she doesn’t want me to develop that instinct any further cause they say once a dog becomes a bird dog they aren’t as good a house pet. Mamaw and Poppy just wouldn’t know what to do with me if I was wanting to go hunting every day!

Well, I got a cocklebur in my right paw today. Mamaw was just fondling with my feet the way the groomer encourages so I’m used to that when I’m groomed, and she found it. I wasn’t very happy to have her working at getting that out but she was smart. (sigh) She didn’t try to comb or brush it out. She carefully just pulled the hairs back and removed what was exposed. It was okay…

Walk, walk walk—all because she thinks I bark too much. She’s tryin to wear me down so I’ll relax and not insist on being “the watchdog” every minute of the day. Bless her heart—I understand it is annoying but I must protect my family from harm! She can’t wait until the Raccoon River Dog Park isn’t under water cause she wants to take me there and just let me run. I guess it’s really a neat place to go—at least that’s what Steve, Pepper’s owner told us. It has acres and acres of ground all fenced in so you can let your dogs off their leashes to just run and run. I really think that is what I need—it’s been a very, very long winter.

We walked to the little mall area two three blocks north of us. I really got scared! There were ads and things covering the windows and there were cement columns along the way. She just kept saying, “It’s okay Scarlett—come, come.” Well for heaven’s sake, no matter how hard I tried to make her skid to a stop she just kept on going. I know she doesn’t want me to be a fraidy cat—nice pun huh? Well, she found out there is a new restaurant and bakery called Sarah J going in there soon. That’s where the Phat Chef used to be and she liked to lunch there but guess there just wasn’t enough traffic to keep it open…
