I think it’s goin to get hot and humid today. We walked (a long walk) way before noon time—we were both sweatin up a storm! It takes us about half an hour to cool off after one of those excursions. Mamaw is extra good about taking my “walking halter” on for the walk and then off. I’m getting real good at it too. I figured out that if she was putting that on me, I was goin for a walk!
She’s doin the shaving the legs routine and she won’t let me in the bathroom with her cause I want to investigate the while soapy stuff she puts on—and then she runs this metal looking devise from the bottom of her leg; to the top. It’s strange I tell you—but I don’t dare get in the way. Then it’s the shower—well, she did let me lay outside the bathroom door for that. I felt really bad though, cause when she turned the water on in the tub, I thought I was going to get a bath. “Not today Miss Scarlett,” she said, “tomorrow.” From then on it was hair, makeup, jewelry—well the walking target all over again!
Soon she’s got me in the kennel and off she goes. She’s got all kinds of errands to run so she says she isn’t goin to be any longer than she has to be. I really appreciate it that she’s really thoughtful about that too. She’s very careful how long she leaves me. Oh my God, MORE GROCERIES—I just don’t get it! But she’s happy—she’s got everything done—and they are goin out tonight with Ozzie’s Mom and Dad. It is Cully’s birthday and they are goin to help him celebrate and meet some of their friends.
Mamaw says we better walk again—she “hooks me up” and out the door we go. We get just a little ways and the thunder hit and scared the pee right out of me. “I don’t wanta walk Mamaw,” I said, “I’m scared.” We went back home and off came the harness. I feel better INSIDE then OUT when I hear that stuff. We’ll just hang out until Poppy comes home to get Mamaw.
I think Mamaw is a little worried about leaving me tonight with the projected storms—but they made a promise…They’re goin to Maxie’s, a really neat place that serves good Italian food (and that’s about her favorite). She said they just had a wonderful time—Cully was very pleased. She took a picture of me to show them and Poppy said I was the talk of the table. It really started raining “cats and dogs” (giggle, giggle) and it was hard to get everybody home. But in they came—a little wet but okay.
Well, rain or not, I gotta go out. Out we go and Mamaw told me in no uncertain words to pee and get it done! Well I wasn’t planning on standing out in the rain all night, Mamaw—give me a break! It’s kinda late and they’re getting up REALLY EARLY in the morning so she said I could get on the waterbed with her for a while. Well, h***, I’m ready to play now. I’m nipping at her heels, pulling on her nightgown, doing everything I can to get her to play. Well forget it Scarlett, you just go to bed for the night. Poppy said I kicked up a fuss in the kennel for about 10 minutes before I settled down (I wanted them to know how MAD I WAS.
