Got up this morning and here came Jon out of the big hole in the wall. Oh boy—he’s gonna be here today. Mamaw said, “Now Scarlett, don’t get all excited. Jon and Poppy are going to spend some “men” time together and we’re gonna do our own thing.” Well, I guess that settles that!

So Poppy is busy, busy, busy fixed Jon one of his FAMOUS BREAKFASTS. Mamaw and me—we just try to stay out of the way. When they’re finished, Jon wants a “run.” She told him about our wonderful trail but he didn’t quite understand her description so she got me “duded up” and away the three of us go. Nice walk—but I missed the “good girl” comments. She and Jon just jabbered along so I finally just went ahead of her and walked beside Jon. She gave him my leash and I really felt like a big shot then. We’re gonna come on home but Jon will run—bye for now, Big Boy! (he is 6’ 2”).

After his shower and such, they decided to go to the Mall. We decided to go see Betty. Mamaw bought her some lotion (she LOVES LOTION). I was happy cause I got to go but there were so many people and new things I think I might have gotten a little “spooked.” Mamaw didn’t give in though, I walked in the door to visit and back out the door by myself. The doors open all by themselves and it’s kinda scary! Well, Miss Betty is doing so good. We watched while Kevin, the therapist, gave her a pretty good work-over but she doesn’t give up. She just keeps going…Mamaw says that’s why she’s doin so good. Okay Miss Betty, we’ll get you to the dining room in your wheelchair and then we’ll leave. I’ve never walked beside one of those before but Mamaw said I did a wonderful job myself! I love it when she praises me.

In the car and off we go—to the drive thru car wash. I did lots, lots better this time than the first time we went. I didn’t even have to leap over onto her lap. I just watched the water spots come and go. And then we’re off again—almost like a “road trip” really. To the gas station where she gets the gas. I wait…

Poppy fixed really nice steaks on the grill for us for dinner. Everybody said they were yummy—how could I know? I didn’t get any. Then Jon wants to go swimming again. He’s like a FISH! So, we’ll let him be a fish. Hope it doesn’t rain tomorrow so he can go again…
