Mamaw is up and at it pretty early today. She’s washin towels before she even takes me outside to “do my thing.” Those are my bath towels—she always freshens em up for me. And she’s pickin up around the house wonder what’s up today? Poppy is tryin to stay out of the way—I guess I better do that too.
Before long she saw the painters over at Becky’s house. She went over and helped carry outdoor plants out of the way for them to paint. And then of all things, this large man came to the front door and rang the doorbell. Oh, it’s Phil. Mamaw wants him to help with some “honey-dos” today. He’s a really nice man and is very good friends with Cully next door.
You know Mamaw—she has her list prepared. She’s jumpin around like a Jack in the Box showing him all the stuff to do. Then she gives him the liberty to do the jobs in the order he wants to do them. So—it’s kind of a DEAD day as far as walking much or me getting any real attention. I’m gonna be good—did ya hear me? I’m gonna be good.
Finally the jobs are done and Mamaw can get on the floor and play with me. And we get to go outside too! I’m walkin around in the grass and my nose came upon a little baby sandal. Well, where in the world did that come from—heaven? Ya know, I found the little sockie on our walk so I guess this is possible too. I can’t figure out how to get the little sandal in my mouth—it’s kinda hard and it’s so little bitty—but I like it! Mamaw and Poppy come to look at what I’ve found and they just fall in love with the little shoe. They said I could take it in the house.
Now, I’m havin real problems here. The little sockie is so easy to hold gently in my mouth cause I just adore it. But the little bitty shoe is hard for me to control so I keep chewing on it too much. The folks just don’t want me to be chewing on it cause I’ll ruin it. What to do—what to do! Mamaw put it up from me. I hope she gives it back for “practice time” every once in a while.
It started raining REALLY HARD. I told Mamaw and Poppy we don’t need to go outside—we’ll just stay in and cook supper and relax. So nice…
