April 1, 2010 (April Fool's Day)

Well it’s April Fools Day – I better be careful because Mamaw will probably be up to something funny today – I knew it – she just called Poppy to tell him “that there was something seriously wrong with me” – then she cried out April Fools. Poppy wasn’t exactly pleased with this “scare” – these humans, they are kind of peculiar. Mamaw got me up earlier than usual today. I guess Johnny Pommer is coming back to finish the repair on the patio door. I like him – he’s nice & I like to cuddle with him. I think he must “like” me (hugs).

Mamaw is under the “porch” today – that’s what humans call the bedroom when they are not up to par. She is not feeling good at all. I rested with her on the “comfy” water bed for a while but I get bored in there when she isn’t up to play. I am afraid it is going to be a down day – but that may be alright because I am not quite up to par either. Poppy & I hung out together for most of the day although he did go back to the golf course to hit some balls. I think he must like to do this because he sure seems to like to go out there and fool around for awhile. Well I sure can understand why he likes to play “ball games” because I sure do;

Poppy and I went for a walk but he isn’t as much fun as Mamaw – she lets me go “fast” and I like that better. Of course he is older than she is so maybe he doesn’t have as much extra energy. Of course a “walk” is good so I won’t complain. I also went to my doctor today to get some protection from the “critters” that may be lurking at the Dog Park. I am glad we did that because I am anxious to go to the “open” spaces again and meet all kinds of new friends – dogs and people. It is a fun place to go and I like the feel of the “freedom” of being off the leash (happy thoughts).

I heard Poppy talking to his mother and we are going to go back up to Fonda on Sunday to see her. She will be 92 years old on Monday so we will help her celebrate her birthday one day ahead of time. That means another “car ride” – I love em. I think we are going to stop to see Mamaw’s BIL (Brother in law) in Jefferson on the way to Fonda. That’s good because I haven’t met him yet – I always enjoy expanding my circle of friends and getting more attention. Mamaw and Poppy’s efforts to “socialize” me are paying dividends ‘cause I love going new places and making new friends.

Well I sure hope Mamaw is up to par tomorrow so I get more play and walk time. I will retire early tonight and save up my energy for tomorrow.
