What’s Poppy doin going to work Mamaw—it’s only Friday? “Oh, well he switched with somebody for another day off so today is his day,” is Mamaw’s reply. Bummer…it’s supposed to be a nice day today too. He’s been wantin to go play golf but the weather always acts up ON HIS DAYS OFF! I just don’t think that’s fair at all… I told him that too, and he said, “That’s just the way it is Miss Scarlett.” (sad)

Mamaw went out the living room door to the patio and dumped another 3 ½” from the rain gauge. We’ve just really been hit HARD with rain—hope we don’t have any flooding!

My first trip outside this morning I had to poop really bad. And ya know, I hold it cause I’ve got to get my ‘smells’ in and go in just the right spot. She decided we’d walk before it got hot so she’s takin off with her IPod Shuffle blaring in her ears and I’m holdin back—tryin to let her know I gotta go. She just tugs at my leash and goes on. Finally I had no choice but to jerk back and just lay flat on the concrete! Aw—finally—she got it! That done, we had a great walk and I’m getting so good at the WAIT in and out of the doors.

Mamaw says she won’t take me to see Miss Betty today cause she got a few things to pick up at the grocery store on her way back. I miss Betty… Okay, I’m supposed to get a bath first thing in the morning tomorrow and THEN she will take me. I’m gonna have to wait a long, long time but I’d best be good or she will decide to EXILE me from that too!

And, yes, I’ve been EXILED from the bedroom again for always insisting on tearing the sheets off the bed. Mamaw told Poppy that I’m not to be in the bedroom without supervision. I guess you could say I did it to myself—yet I just keep thinking Oh well, there’s always tomorrow. So I’ll just wait until I’ve got her confidence again and she’ll forget she said that.

She took my outside ‘playground leash’ and tied it around a tree in the front yard this afternoon. I went out with her and she worked furiously on pulling those weeds. I think she might still be upset over the news she got from her niece the other day. In between the weeding, she brings me periodic drinks and then Becky brought Ozzie out to see me. Oh Lord—I LOVED THAT! We just love each other, in spite of the fact that he acts like he is better than me sometimes. Well, show me a male that hasn’t done that from time to time so I’m just ignorin it!

And so Poppy is home, the pizza is in the oven, I’ve been fed and we’ll find something we like on TV and just settle in for the night. Well, we’ve all worked hard today so makes sense to me. I got ‘spooked’ a couple of times—Mamaw thinks since we’ve had these storms I’m a little skidish. Two boys came by on skateboards again and scared me to death. And then a motorcycle (noisy as can be) went by and again I ran for the house. Mamaw told Poppy she has to take some time to just sit on our front deck (facing 50th Street) and just hang out and listen to the noises so I’ll be used to them. Sounds like a good idea to me…
