November 29, 2010

It's a BIG DAY today--Cully's funeral.  Poppy had to run out and get a haircut and when he came home he showed Mamaw this yellow argyle sweater he bought and asked her if she liked it.  (Of course she liked it--she tried to talk him into buying it earlier and he didn't)  He sure made her day with that!

The sun comes and goes and Mamaw told Poppy she was hopin for 'no rain' at least until Cully was lowered into the ground.  She got her wish.  She said it rained 'cats and dogs' and Poppy had to let her out at the church door but then it cleared when they left for the cemetery.

I couldn't go on the drive with them cause they drove down to Mount Ayr, IA where he wanted to be buried.  I'm sure they got to talk about a lot of things on the way though as they usually do.  When they got home, it was dark--and I was glad to see em.  "I shared with ya Cully--without complaint."

November 28, 2010

Poppy is goin to work!  Wish he could stay home with me...Mamaw is goin to get some work done around here--most of it outside and I don't want to go out with her!  She's gotta get the Thanksgiving pumpkins put away and make sure the eve spouts are free of leaves.  I think she's a workaholic but I'm not sure--I'm gonna keep a good eye on her though!

Before Poppy left for work they talked about Cullen's Visitation this afternoon.  Mamaw says she'll go a little earlier and he can stop by after he's done lookin at all those "eyes."

So we just sort of played around at gettin work done.  The sheets got their weekly "bath" and the vacuum ran.  She did finally sit down and look at the Sunday paper and saw Cully's obituary.  She's gettin dressed up right now to go to the visitation and knows that Becky is next door but she doesn't want to intrude so she's stayin put.

November 27, 2010

Mamaw and me were tired yesterday!  she thinks she ate something that didn’t agree with her when they went out to dinner with Regina and family.  I wasn't in the mood for a walk or nothin--just kinda laid around and watched her get some work done.  But Poppy was up and off to work...

Mamaw had so many phone calls she didn't get much else done though.  With three deaths in November she's got people callin...she never rushes them.  Then her friend, Lin called and they gabbed quite a whole about this gal Mamaw met on facebook who called in the morning.  That was a really nice talk they had too.

She did manage to sweep that danged garage again (like it's part of the house or something.)  And when she does the little odds and ends it seems to take her all day.  Well I watched her update photos of the grand kids and she fiddled and fiddled till they were just RIGHT!  Tickles me--but probably would frustrate Poppy.

November 26, 2010

Oh man, the girls were gone when Tess and I got up this morning. Wonder if they’ve been out all night for this crazy Thursday or Thanksgiving shopping day or whatever they decided to call it. Goofy times for each store to open so they gotta get their thoughts together on paper so they know where to go first. And the phone rang about 8:00 a.m. and Deb says they are standing in line at Gordman’s—it was gonna take 45 minutes to an hour. Mamaw said, “Miss Scarlett, I’m sure glad I didn’t go with em!”

She was kinda worried about getting to of us girls out to do our duty at the same time so would you believe
it—SHE TOOK TESS FIRST! Now, how do you like those apples huh? But she came and got me just right away when she was done with Tess and took me. She fed Tess first and I was about to blow my stack!!! She said, “Scarlett—have I taught you nothing at all? Guests are first.” Oh—forgot in my moment of jealousy. “Gotcha Mamaw—I’ll remember next time.”

November 25, 2010 (Thanksgiving)

Hey world--this is my second Thanksgiving on this earth--they were very different.  Last year Mamaw cooked for Reggie and family--this year Poppy said we'll take whoever shows up to Ryan's for turkey.  She got on the phone and called everybody she knows who lost a loved one this past year and wished them happiness and checked to make sure they wouldn't be ALONE.

Then Deb came and brought Tess with her.  Tess is kinda chubby and likes to hog Mamaw's attention too.  She kinda intimidates me just a little and I don't know why.  We managed to get along pretty well though until just before Hayleigh walked in the door.  Tess growled at me; and she had to go to her bed for "timeout."

Dinner was lovely and Deb had to change clothes and go to work but when she got off, she came back to our house and they plotted a shopping Black Friday thing. Mamaw told em just to go ahead--she didn't want to fight the crowds and she didn't need anything either.

We went to bed so we don't know what time they got out and around. I just hope they don't spend all of their money in one place...

November 24, 2010

The weather is FRIGHTFUL!  It's all over the news about the streets getting slick and all of the accidents.  And Mamaw had made plans to go out.  She needs Poppy to look at her "eyes" again cause she still isn't seein very good.  Well, at noon there was no way she was goin to go out so she called Poppy to cancel her eye appointment.  We're in like flynn...

I hate to even go out to do my "chores"--it is rainy, slushy and WINDY!  It's hard to poop when you think your ears might fly off so I'm stayin in as much as I can too.  I'll rest and Mamaw will work on her novel.

And we washed towels--and picked up all the plants she's got on the floor--TESS IS COMING TOMORROW FOR THANKSGIVING.  Yep, and Deb too.  Well they are gonna stay overnight for that crazy Black Friday or whatever it is so she wants the basement to be "dog proofed."  But Mamaw says they are doin something even more different than that this year--some of the stores are gonna open up on turkey day so Deb just may shop all night.  Hayleigh is with her dad right now but she's comin tommorow evening too.  I think we might have a girls slumber party--been a long time huh Mamaw?

November 23, 2010

It is colder today and Mamaw doesn't like it.  I like it lots better than that HOT stuff!  But she doesn't want to hang around outside as long as I do--gotta get her goin on her walks again so she'll be used to it.

Mamaw looks all dressed up and smells good--Poppy looks all dressed up and smell good too--wonder what's up?  And am I included?  Turns out Poppy is goin to the nursing home to visit his Mom and go on to see family and friends--I don't get to go with him.  But Mamaw is going down to Cummings about her Holly plant clippings she's callin "Patricia" and she said I could go.  Well, alright--get my leashed up, start the car and let's go!  It was just a wonderful ride with her.  She strokes me as she drives and then puts her hand down on the seat and I put my chin on her hand...warm and fuzzy.  Okay...done with that.  She drove right back to our house and we got in the house; she stayed for a little while and then had the nerve to shove my butt in the kennel and said, "Miss Scarlett, I'm goin to the Perry Tea Room to meet up with sister Mary for lunch.  We're gonna celebrate our Christmas together just in case the weather would turn bad and we wouldn't be able to get together."

November 22, 2010

But this morning when we got up, Mamaw had gone to her waterbed and sometime in the night Ozzie came in and flopped down beside Poppy. That means he's been here all night. And so who gets to go outside first this morning? Well—it wasn’t me! I had to HOLD MYSELF until she got done talking to him and walkin him down to the corner and around the bend on the trail so he could poop—not once—but twice! And then Finally—my turn…just in the nick of time too!

Ozzie is feelin really bad and we can’t help him with it. He wants to sleep against any wall he can get next to and really doesn’t want to be bothered. Sometimes he’ll come to Mamaw and put his head on her knee and she rubs his head and tells him he’s a good boy. We’re sad for him. But Mamaw said, “Now Scarlett—it won’t do us any good to bother him and that’s just what we would be doin.”

November 21, 2010

Mamaw says life is all about changes.  Wonder what she means?  Well-guess WE FOUND OUT!  Dodi came down to help Mamaw with her IPod--got so much new music on that thing she'll go for a walk and never come home...then she took her to lunch and they had a long talk.  I don't think she wanted me to hear what's goin on in people's lives!

She came back and Dodi left.  My Mamaw got on the laptop and started in...I just rested.  And it's a good thing too!  And a good thing they ate dinner right after Poppy got home from work!  The phone rang and it was Becky.  Oh my God--an ambulance is coming to take Cully to the ER!!!!  I heard her say, "Of course--I'll be right over."  I KNEW...Now don't get me wrong, I just love that boy but when he comes to my house, he tries to "steal" Mamaw away from me with his affection.  I gotta work so hard to hang right in there without bein "nasty" to him.

So now with two of us, she is inside, outside, filling food dishes, filling water dishes, tryin to be fair with her love--and really feeling crappy for poor Ozzie.  He wants to go home...Mamaw asked Poppy to go to the waterbed and let her have the recliner to sleep on.  She put Ozzie's HUGE PILLOW on the floor and put me in the kennel and she laid down with a throw over her.  FINALLY Ozzie was able to settle down and sleep.  Wonder how long he's stayin this time?

November 20, 2010

Well good mornin Mamaw—did you sleep good last night? Poppy asked her the same question. Still got that ole snotty nose and needs to dress warmer when she takes me out to “go.” I like the weather much better now that it is cooler but she’s got a problem with it.

We’ve done my tricks—got Poppy’s lunch packed—got him off to work—now what? “I’m not up to runnin any races today,” Mamaw told me so guess we’ll just go with the flow and just see what happens next.

She got to work and did some stuff she just couldn’t stand anymore and then she sat down with a cup of hot tea and read the paper. The phone rang and she answered—her friends’ son, Ronnie has passed away. No other details—don’t know when or any funeral arrangement plans but we know he died of cancer. Mamaw cried a while about that too…I just snuggled as close as I could get to her so she’d know how much I care for her. There have just been too many losses for her to cope with and she’s on hurtin status.

November 19, 2010

Mamaw got her Rainbow sweeper fixed that she thinks she can't live without.  She hasn't used it yet--that nasty cold is still hauntin her.  I've not seen her so lethargic before but Poppy is home so I'll hang with him!  And you know what?  She didn't even go outside the door other than to take me out to do my duty.

Her laptop is pretty busy today--don't know what she's up to for sure.  She isn't sharin but I bet you the wheels are rollin, rollin, rollin.  And she finished reading Katie Up and Down the Hall  by Glenn Plaskin.  The story is about a cocker spaniel who turned five neighbors into a family.  She laughed a lot during most of the book and then Poppy and I could see tears rolling down her cheeks and she didn't read near as fast as usual.  I asked her, "Mamaw, why you cryin so much"?  She told me that Katie died and then after Katie died, Pa-Re-El (Pearl) just gave up--course Mamaw says she was very old in body but very young in spirit.  Such a touching story--and well--it was the cocker spaniel angle that got to her. The author just made them "come to life" for her.  She says she highly recommends the book--so go out and get it humans!

November 18, 2010

Poppy is home! Oops—he and Mamaw are goin to take Miss Betty out for lunch cause she’s movin back to Denison. They “herded me” into the kennel and went to run a couple of errands and went to lunch on the East side of Des Moines. They both said it was very good and came highly recommended by Vicki. They went back to Vicki’s house to see all the work she has done to sell their house…yep; they are gonna move too—in January to a new house in Ankeny. I told ya—everybody’s movin on up! I’m sure glad Mamaw and Poppy are stayin put with me!!!

They got back and Mamaw began packing the car with errands she’s gonna do on her own. Poppy is stayin with me—that probably means a nap and some lovin…

November 17, 2010

Alrighty people—we are exhausted from our trip…it’s so good to be home. Poppy had to work but Mamaw doesn’t want to get out of bed. She did finally cause I simply would not go outside to poop for Poppy—that’s HER JOB!

Needless to say, we did little today. She worked and worked on the blog and unloaded pictures taken on the Notre Dame Campus and the Air Zoo—which we will share with you later. It takes a long time to put them in “her special program” to crop, name and save them. And she worked without complaining.

We did sneak in a “middle of the afternoon nap.” I sure needed that I can tell ya! And then it was time to vacuum and get some other stuff done. And she has a terrific headache today—sort of grumpy.

November 16, 2010

Mamaw’s got plans today! All duded up with all kinds of Sunday paper ads and another BIG BAG she’s shovin me in the kennel. I understand though—she told me she has to get all of this “stuff” that was left in Michigan to their owners before bad weather sets in. She met a very nice, young man for lunch at Panera in Ames and they had a wonderful visit. She congratulated him on his job at the Fareway Warehouse and told him to stay out of trouble cause that could be a long career for him—with wonderful benefits. She warned him though, not to even take a plastic fork from the place cause they are VERY fussy.

Then she went to Bio-Life to see Dodi—and for the second time she stopped in, she found out that she had the day off. So she drove to Nevada to see her for a while and when she came home, I could smell Max on her pants. I wish I could have gone along to play with him but ya know about that stupid rule—dogs can’t go in places that serve food. And Mamaw doesn’t like to leave me locked in the car alone.

I think her vacation is beginnin to catch up with her big time! But she still took the time to make a couple of contacts in reference to a fundraiser for the son of a long-time friend who is battling cancer. She’s always good about tryin to donate things and always has good ideas about raffles and stuff.

November 15, 2010

Dorothy was so right!—There is no place like home! Mamaw read the story to me and I can tell ya, she is so right about it all. (Dorothy Gale is swept away to a magical land in a tornado and embarks on a quest to see the Wizard who can help her return home).

The trip was just wonderful…did ya hear me? JUST WONDERFUL and Mamaw would say TOO SHORT TOO! But ya know, it takes a toll on ya. Mamaw had hoped to stay in bed for the day “nursin” her cold but instead had to be up and around cause “the window man” came. Poppy fixed a ham and grilled cheese sandwich for them before THE MAN came and she got her cup of hot tea too!

Poppy and me—we were smart though. We shut ourselves up in the office and let Mamaw take care of it! So she got all three loads of the laundry done so I guess we’re sorta back to normal. As soon as the man was done, I was back in my kennel and pretty much spent the day there.

November 14, 2010

Mamaw is up—Oh, Oh—this isn’t good! The cold has her…no church today—sorry—I want to load up and head home so I can “get under the porch.” Alright—let’s get movin then! Poppy did most of the packin up but Mamaw felt responsible for the potted plants she put together so she helped. I was underfoot so bad she put me in the backseat—guess that means I’m not ridin on her lap for a ways. But—it means they aren’t gonna forget to take me home with them!

Kim was a real sweetheart and fixed Mamaw a big, huge container of hot lemon tea and sent another bag along with her. We’re in the car and off we go. Kim has her own problems—people who are supposed to be at the church doin their jobs DIDN’T SHOW UP TODAY and alarms are goin off everywhere…poor Kim.

November 13, 2010

Today is the BIG DAY! Poppy went out for a ride early this morning and picked up some donuts and got gas. Mamaw is the next one up…gotta get ready to go to South Bend, Indiana! Jonn crawls out next…happy to see the donuts too! Then Dan and Kim come out of their bedroom looking like its way too early for them. Donuts were had by all—well; except for Isaiah and me that is…They looked like they were enjoyin em.

They got so much stuff in their arms I can’t imagine them needin all of that stuff—but maybe. It’s supposed to rain today (not what they wanted to hear on “game day.”) I don’t have to go in the kennel when they leave though cause Jonn is gonna be here for most of the day. I still prefer to stay in the back bedroom…and wait for them.

The middle of the afternoon, Jonn took me outside to go potty cause he’s gotta get to the church. I’m in the kennel…waitin. It was very dark when they got home. And I could smell something really, really good. Aw—pizza—Dan’s favorite pizza. They pigged out and talked about the wonderful game. Notre Dame beat Utah—28 to 3—they couldn’t be happier. And just to top the day off, they all had cake again.

November 12, 2010

I got lucky today—I think they are too tired to do too much so we’re gonna spend some time with Dan cause he took the day off from work. They gotta run lots of errands cause tomorrow is the “BIG GAME” and they’re goin back to Notre Dame for that! I didn’t ride along for all of that cause Mamaw is gonna be in and out of the car a lot.

She had to go to the Mall to get a new battery for James’ birthday watch. And she wanted to get a birthday cake and ice cream for after dinner tonight. His birthday is already over but WE didn’t get to celebrate with him so we’re gonna do it now! And she found a pair of glass frames “she can’t live without” so she has to pick them up too.

November 11, 2010

It is Thursday already—we just can’t believe it! Poppy and Mamaw got up too early to suit me I can tell ya. My instincts are telling me though that we’re goin someplace. Mamaw is fixin her hair and putting makeup on and Poppy has shaved and changed into some nice clothes. If the bus is goin—I want to be on it! When they were ready to leave, I was ready too. Oops! “Miss Scarlett, you can’t go cause we’ll be eating at some restaurant Poppy wants to take me to and you know the LAW says you can’t go in,” she said. Oh crap—who made up that lousy law anyway? “Well, where ARE YA GOIN,” I asked her—she said “Notre Dame.” In the kennel I go—and not willingly I might add! I heard the engine in the Lexus start and they pulled out of the driveway.

November 10, 2010

Mamaw is fussin about not havin enough time in Michigan—with the family. Well, get around then and get to doin what ya want to do! When she got up this morning, Poppy was off on another one of his rides. He’s checkin out the country. And Mamaw slept LATE—9:00 a.m. I thought my sides were gonna burst but I made it out just in the nick of time. I had no time to sniff and check out the area I would use so I had to trust that it was for me—and it was safe.

Kim and Jonn were long gone by that time and Dan was doin his “morning reading.” Mamaw and I know better than to interrupt that. Well Poppy came home and said he’s been around different areas of Kalamazoo. They visited and tried to get the laptop on the wireless internet but that didn’t work so they decided just to start out the day. At 2:00 p.m. or so, Dan would have to get Jonn from school and bring him home so they shoved me in the kennel and asked Mr. Isaiah to go back and stay with me to keep me company.

Dan got the 1998 RED, MUSTANG CONVERTIBLE out of the garage and away they went. I said, “For heaven’s sake Isaiah—couldn’t they take us along too”? Isaiah told me there wasn’t enough room. He told me that HE can’t even ride in the back seat cause he’s too big! Oh my—must not be anything like Poppy’s Lexus!

November 9, 2010

Woke up in a strange house today—on the lake! Nice—but different. I don’t know what to do so Mamaw is patient with me…We aren’t in any hurry to get around today cause we’re on vacation. But we do get around finally, and start our day. Dan took them on a BIG ride and they went to the store to get some food. (Don’t worry she brought plenty of treats and food for me. She even brought bottled water in hopes my tummy wouldn’t get upset. But my tummy is a little upset—guess it was the long drive. Mamaw wants me to eat but I’m just gonna fast for a while cause I don’t want to throw up in their house.

Then we got home and Mamaw started raking leaves—they are huge!!! She said she’d get her exercise that way today so she raked and raked and really seemed to enjoy it. Dan and Poppy thought she was CRAZY of course, who would enjoy raking leaves anyhow? She picked em up in a really big thing that had wheels and hauled em over to the place Dan can burn them. She did good. Poppy said, “You’re gonna be on hurtin status tomorrow and you’ll be complainin.” She said, “I promise not to complain.” Poppy and Dan laughed. (I did too but I didn’t want to offend Mamaw so I had to kinda try to hide it.”

November 8, 2010

Early to bed; early to rise! And that we did—Poppy wants to be “on the road again” by 8:00 a.m. They haven’t shared that with me yet but there’s a change in their behavior. That means I gotta get around and get “my business done” so we can go. He’s gonna run over to the gas station and get gas (and a newspaper for Mamaw.) So she’s FINALLY gonna pack my bag. And guess what? I get TWO this time!!!! I have a hunch our ride is gonna be longer than it’s ever been before!!!

I’m sittin on Mamaw’s lap and we’re pullin out of the driveway—the car is packed FULL; maybe we’re gonna stay there for a long time. I’ve got some doubts to contend with about this trip. Ya know I’m kinda “skiddish” and I depend on Mamaw or Poppy to let me know what’s happenin. I hope they don’t get so busy they forget about me and leave me hangin…

We drive a long way before we stop—that’s okay cause I’m “trained” to hold my business when necessary. The trees have lots of leaves on them but Mamaw tells Poppy they really aren’t pretty at all. And they talk about the traffic starting out and how it’s not heavy at all. They just visit back and forth—I think it’s gonna be a good day!

November 7, 2010

What a lovely day it is outside—I don’t know how warm it is but I can tell ya, Mamaw said it was BEAUTIFUL! I took her word for it. I’ve been out a couple of times already, getting my plumbing cleaned out for my bath. Mamaw is busy putting the towels all over the living room rug and bathroom floor. Then she goes to the kitchen to get my “special” shampoo. I already KNEW it was bath day with all of that—even before she took my collar off.

She grabs me and away I go like a bunch of leaves blowin in the wind. I’m in the bathtub before you can say, Jack Frost, and the water is runnin. Mamaw puts her hand under the water and gets it just the right temperature and we proceed. She wets me all down and then puts that smellin stuff on me. Then she rubs back and forth till I am just in heaven—did ya hear me? I’m just in heaven! She says “sweet nothins” in my ear all of the time reassuring me we are havin a good time. And then it’s rinse time…that feels wonderful too after my body massage. I tell ya people, if ya want a good body massage—Mamaw is the one to do it!

She wraps this HUGE towel around me and lifts me from the tub. Rub-a-dub-dub she runs that towel back and forth and back and forth and grabs my feet one at a time and rubs them too. She takes the towel and squeezes my ears! Not hard though—just to get some of the drippy water off me.

November 6, 2010

We got Poppy’s lunch around for him and Mamaw started HER CAR TOO! Now what’s goin on? “We got all kinds of work to do today,” she informs me. “But first, let’s get these leaves over to the disposal place.” She let me ride along… And trust me—I was good! Then we went for a ride and I loved that too.

We got back and she went outside to get the last of the outside stuff in the basement for winter. And then she started MORE laundry! My God—how many outfits do they wear a day anyway? She’s been countin pills and getting stuff rounded up—and then I’m in the kennel.

She came back with a Trader Joe’s bag—yep, she couldn’t stand it! Just had to go see what the new store in West Des Moines was like—and she said she liked it. She’s gonna have to eat in the car or a rest stop area on our way to Michigan, so she picked up some bread, peanut butter, crackers and a Cobb salad. Poppy will just have to go eat alone…I can’t go in where they serve food. Mamaw says that’s just okay—we’ll manage. Guess my brown eyes got to her cause I’m gonna be saved from EXILE this time.

November 5, 2010

We’re still workin real hard to get ready to leave on our trip. Mamaw got the rest of her outside decorations in the basement. She said she’s gonna leave the two wooden pumpkins out and hopes nobody takes them. She picked up some more leaves that furrowed into a circle on the lower deck and loaded all her bags in the car. Tomorrow is disposal day.

She got a call from her sister, Pat, in Texas and while on the phone she began to cry. Pat told her that she is terminal with gangrene. She’s had years of sores that wouldn’t heal and Mamaw always thought it was diabetes but no—gangrene. The doctor’s want to remove her leg but she said, “no way” to that. They talked a long time and Mamaw cried a long time too.

November 4, 2010

The house is busy today! Poppy runnin errands and Mamaw tryin to get stuff done for our trip. More laundry—how does she do that?

She had to run to Hancock Fabrics to find buttons for Poppy’s REALLY HEAVY COAT to wear to the Notre Dame game. I asked her what I was gonna wear to stay warm and she told me I don’t get to go. Well, and what else is new???

No Ozzie today. I can tell ya I’m relieved. He just came into our house and took Mamaw away from me. He is demanding, wanting her to pet him all the time or give him my SNAP treats. So it’s gonna be good to get back to normal and just lie around watchin her do her work.

November 3, 2010

Good thing Mamaw was up early today. Jean brought Ozzie back cause she has to go home and get ready for work. Oh, oh – Mamaw wasn’t expectin that! Now what? She has a hair appointment at 8:30 and Poppy has to go to work. She shifted gears real, real fast—never seen anything like it really. Now am I gonna have to put up with HIM all day, “hoggin” my Mamaw?

She’s smart though—Becky told her where to find the key but Jean said it wasn’t there. She ran next door and finally found it so she came back to our house and got Ozzie. She took him to his house (where his food and water is) and will check on him after her hair is done. One of Cully’s friends is supposed to “dog sit” today so we’ll keep and eye out and make sure he gets taken care of. After all, Mamaw says if that was her in the hospital, she’d want somebody takin good care of me. Maybe I better not complain???

Home from her hair and she didn’t even let me out of the kennel but got on the phone to BELKIN. She couldn’t understand the guy (from India) but just kept asking him to repeat himself. Finally, the guy decided it was a defective router. Still in the kennel, she boxes it up and off she goes again! She returned it to the store and went to Best Buys to get the Netgear like they had last time. She called Mark—he’ll be back later today. We’ll see…she’s very frustrated I CAN TELL YOU THAT!

November 2, 2010

Mamaw has been out huntin for new buttons for Poppy’s big winter coat. He’s gonna take that with us to Michigan to wear at the Notre Dame Football game. I asked why they would want to sit out and BE COLD just to watch the game when they could be warm and watch the TV. Mamaw said, “Miss Scarlett, there are just some things on my “bucket list” I want to fulfill. Whatever… Mission accomplished—she came home with the coat and the buttons looking pretty pleased with herself.

Just inside the door really, the phone rang. It was Becky—EMERGENCY! Yes, Cully is very sick and must go to the doctor, could Ozzie come to our house. Mamaw ran right over there and brought him back. It was okay for a while but then I could see he was demanding lots of attention from her and I got a little jealous. Well, good God—I’m here too—and I want part of her. He wanted my little chew thingy but she managed to take that from him. And he goes to the kitchen—he wants some of my snaps. She gave him 4 and I only got 1! Is that fair???

They had a terrible time getting Cully in the car but then off they went. I guess they’re gonna put him in the hospital and run some tests. Mamaw said they should have called the ambulance to come get him.

November 1, 2010

The weather is cooling down now and I’ve heard people saying the snow could be flying anytime now. But what a terrific October we have had! Mamaw and I just are not going to complain about that at all!

Poppy is home—it’s so nice to have a little more time with him. Gosh, there for a while he was working so much we missed him—Mamaw and me. So I will spend time with him today cause Mamaw came out of the bedroom lookin pretty darned good to be just stayin home today.

She’s got lots of “stuff” to do though before this trip we’re goin on. She went outside and gathered some more leaves in bags. She’s haulin her “outside stuff” inside for winter but she left the little tricycle out there until just before we leave. When she came haulin in the scarecrow it scared me a little but they went down to the basement and when she came back up, she had left that thing down there and brought up a wreath to hang outside the front door.

October 31, 2010 (Halloween)

I am 14 months old today. So I’ve been reflecting back on my life. I’ve learned a lot. I’ve been lots of places. I’ve had good food and care and even met my REAL Mama. I’ve been blessed! Not sure I would change a thing…

Poppy has to work—Mamaw has to go lookin for some cords for him. It’s gonna be COLD out there in Michigan! I asked her if I needed a coat and gloves and she said nature takes care of that. I was kinda hopin for a cute, sexy little coat and some of those pink snow boots I saw last time at PetSmart but Poppy says, NO WAY! Guess that settled that!

Don't let the "gouls" get ya Ozzie
It is Halloween—when Ozzie came out to go potty, we ran out to see him—me carryin his edible card. I just love that guy; don’t ya know?

And Mamaw is cookin up a storm today. More chili (but for her this time)—Poppy won’t eat it. And she’s cookin steak to put noodles in and then she adds mushrooms and sour cream—she calls it some kind of Stroganoff. Then she made Poppy some corn bread—he LOVES THAT STUFF. He puts warm syrup over it with butter and eats it right up! Good meal—no treats. I tried so hard to get my teeth on some of that Stroganoff but they finally made me get down.

I didn’t make it to the waterbed tonight. Mamaw was in the middle of a movie and wouldn’t take me back so in the end you know where I ended up, don’t you?
