Oops, got a problem this morning. Poppy said his maintenance light came on when he was driving home from Charles City so he asked Mamaw what her plans for the day are. Thinking…She wants to take her resume for a part-time job to Lens Crafters. More thinking…She get’s lots of good ideas! Why not call Toyota and see if they can come get the car? Poppy called—we’ll be right out. “Then how do I get to work,” he asked her? She told him just to take her car. He’s gonna be right there by Lens Crafters anyway, you just take my application and resume and drop it off for me. All set…that’s what we’re gonna do then.
And so the click, click, click in the office begins. Mamaw is writing away. And trust me; she’s spending the whole morning in there too. Well, it’s spittin rain so we’ll wait for the sun to pop out for our walk.
Aw—suns out! Off we go around the bike/walk trail. I found a little-bitty soccer sock and put it in my mouth. Mamaw reached down to see what it was and took it! Darn it—I LIKED THAT LITTLE SOCKIE. We continued our walk—her with her IPod earphones blaring. We got home and we were both thirsty! Oh Mamaw—thank you…she gave me the little-bitty sockie.
The doorbell rang, Mamaw answered the door—then she picked me up to put me in the kennel. What the h**! Oh, it’s the guy from Toyota returning Poppy’s Lexus and she has to write a check. When we told her how much it cost, I cringed. I wonder if they will be able to afford to buy me more food, and treats, and take me to the vet? Mamaw told me not to worry about that…Oh, that’s good.
Okay, now we can walk again. She was afraid they would call and we wouldn’t be in the house to hear the phone but just like magic it’s all taken care of. Boys were out playing and they move around like “lightening”—I was a little worried when the one threw a baseball bat! Mamaw just holds me back with “wait” or pulls back on my leash until it is safe to move on. It was a GREAT walk.
We’re cookin out tonight—butterfly pork chops! Poppy always does such a great job on them—but I don’t get any. (sniff, sniff) Mamaw says it’s not good to feed dogs human foods and they don’t eat dog food. Okay—sounds fair (kind of). My nose knows that the smells of human food is stronger than mine. Oh well, Mother Knows Best.
Poppy is pooped—big day at work. Mamaw took me outside in my “play area” while she did some yard work (pullin them weeds again). When we got back inside, she starts workin on the bank reconciliation. And she worked, worked, worked until I finally just put myself to bed. When she was ready to go night-night, she had to look all over for me. Last place she looked? My kennel—and there I was. She rubbed my head and said, “Good night Miss America.”
