Don’t ya just “feel it” when you wake up in the morning and know things are different? That’s what happened to me today. It is Easter Sunday. The “buzz” is on but nobody has said anything about the CAR or RIDE … but I KNOW! I’m trying to stay out of the way but I’m afraid they’ll leave me. Poppy is vacuuming the car, Mamaw is packing my bag—I’m ready to go. She’s putting the leash on me—I’m so excited. Out the door—“Go potty Scarlett.” Well, I knew I’d best clean myself out in a hurry if I wanted to go. I got busy and did it all…

And so it’s On the Road Again—with Willie Nelson singin the song! We drove to Fonda to see Grandma Blume (Poppy’s mom)—she’s gonna be 92 years old tomorrow. I’d better be on my best behavior cause if I thought Mamaw and Poppy were old I sure found out. Alma is her name—she keeps calling me a HE but we don’t correct her. She sits in this funny chair with a blanket over her lap. When she needs to get out of the chair, she pushes a button and the chair stands up! Talk about scaring the hell out of me!!! And she loves to hold the leash as though she thinks she has control over me. Mamaw always makes me stay on a short leash when we visit people cause SHE wants to have the control if I get naughty. We just talked and talked with Grandma and she said the same thing time after time. Mamaw just pretended she hadn’t already heard it a hundred times and Poppy slipped out the door. That’s okay, Mamaw is so good with old people she just gives and gives of herself. Poppy doesn’t like to see his Mom that way cause—well, it isn’t at all as he remembers her. Getting old is hell…

We drove to the cemetery to see his parents’ stone. They’ve been talking about getting theirs and getting it set before something happens to one or both of them. Well, it’s for sure I wouldn’t be any help to them. I’d be devastated…Poppy took some pictures and called a guy so we’ll see where this adventure goes. I hope we’ll have another on the road again mission and we’ll go look at em.

We went to Fort Dodge cause it is going to be Kurt’s birthday but nobody was home. We headed home. A few miles out of town, I got sick. Oh my God—I’m gonna throw up all over Mamaw. What can I do? Oh thank God—Mamaw grabbed the towel off the floor and put it on my legs so that caught most of it. (She knows I snarfed something up that I wasn’t supposed to have) but she didn’t scold me. And Poppy is so fussy about his car…He didn’t say anything either. Finally when I was all done, she told Poppy when we got home she’d make sure she cleaned the seat for him. We’re all smiles again—and it was good to get home.

We’re all tired and just lay around. We did manage to watch Undercover Boss. Then I went outside for the last time and hit the rack. I was tired…
