April 5, 2010

I was almost “in the dog house” first thing this morning. I’ve been naughty and Mamaw had to chase me around to catch me so I bet you can figure out where I am—yep; that damned kennel! I hear her on the phone doing business and click, click, click of the keys as she works in the office but here I am…Don’t know how long she’s going to punish me for this. I haven’t even had a walk this morning do you know that? And it’s supposed to rain this afternoon? Come on Mamaw—give me a break!

It’s a crappy day—doesn’t know whether it wants to rain or not. I am not at all interested in walking at the moment and just want to try to drive Mamaw crazy. My “barker” is really on high alert today—that’s for sure. I can tell she’s havin a hard time putting up with me. She’s trying to get stuff done and every time I start barking she has to stop what she is doing to come try to squash my noises.

She’s been on the phone a lot too. Something about investments that have to be done before April 15th. She keeps taking notes and saying, “Okay, yes, I can do that.” She also grabbed the towels with my wet feet marks from her car and my “throw up” towel from yesterday and got those washed. She is soooo clean—I suppose that couldn’t have waited a day or two. She’s opening the closet door and I see her dragging the Rainbow vacuum out. I know enough to go to the couch and stay there until she’s done.

A heavy box came to the garage door today. I wonder what that is? Is it for me? Why doesn’t she open it? We’ll wait till Poppy gets home she says.

Poppy is home and he is tired. Our trip yesterday just wore us all out I guess. They’re not going to mess with the box tonight. We’ll just fix pizza and watch TV. There is a dilemma though—which do we watch 24 or Butler versus Duke in the finals tonight. Okay—they agree—we’ll watch 24 until the commercials and the switch over to the ball game. Works for us…

I got to worked up watching the ball game that I started in on a bone. I’m not satisfied until I have two thirds of the bone consumed. And Mamaw wants to go to bed to finish watching the game—I have to look out for her too! She closed the bedroom door and Poppy was supposed to put me in the kennel for the night but with all the excitement; he didn’t. I’m lying back by the bedroom door WAITING… Finally Mamaw thinks she hears something—Duh! Opens the door and there I am—with bells on!! It doesn’t last long though. Oh, I get to be on the bed with her but the game is so exciting and I’m trying to eat her jeans so I guess this is when the rubber meets the road and I’m put to bed for the night.
