I would like a regular day—you know—SUNSHINE! We’re tired of all the rain and it interferes with our walks! We’re not as happy when the sun isn’t shining. I think some uppity doctor said that one time and I heard Mamaw repeat it to Poppy. She spends her rainy days reading the paper and putting all of this information in her head so she can repeat it from time to time. She’s so funny…
Mamaw has a doctor’s appointment today cause of her diet. I’ll miss her when she’s gone and just pray she’s lost some weight will ya? Last month she hit what the doctor called “a plateau” and didn’t lose—she wasn’t happy. Oh my God, I can tell by the way she’s comin in the door that she’s been successful! Yep—4 lbs. Oh Mamaw—I am so proud of you! Poppy is too—he’s says she’s lookin mighty fine—whatever that means. I love her just the way she is—for her personality and unconditional love she shows me. Well, except when she MAD and then it’s hell to pay…
“Poppy, I’m gonna take Miss Scarlett down to PetSmart for a while—we both need some exercise,” she says. Off we go—and of course you KNOW who much I love her car! Course it was a short trip cause it’s just a few blocks from us. I just can’t wait to get out of the car and then I pull her to get inside the door. We make our trips up and down the aisles (I slip my nose in under the shelving and scavenger up all the dog food I can find—brand not important). She takes me past the big dogs—They are mad the weather has been so icky so they are grumpy—bark, bark, bark and I don’t like that unless it is ME BARKING. She took me over to the smaller dogs—same thing. My thought? Just get me out of here! She wanted to pick up my supplies but I had just had it and wanted to come home. She thought I needed to go outside to pee—and I confess, I let her just think that to get outside—and then I headed straight for the car. Well, we’re leavin—got my way! Hope I don’t run out of food to eat…
Sun came out later so we walked—twice. Sometimes I’ll pay attention really good and other times I just want to stop and smell the urine; ya know? And just what’s wrong with that I ask? Let me know when you figure it out huh?
Poppy and Mamaw have been talking about really important stuff today too. They’re still trying to figure out which stone to buy and what to put on it. Poppy got word that a full time doctor is leavin their practice so he’s wantin to talk about taking on additional work. And the boss wants them to become more actively involved in organizations, clubs, etc. and so they’re talking about that. You know humans, it is exhausting what you have to go through in your lives. Now here is Mamaw and Poppy (they’re old!) and they have to still fuss about their lives. Poppy says its because that Obama promised change AND WE GOT IT!
I’ll just slink off to my kennel—night all.
