Again, POURING DOWN RAIN! Mamaw, do we need to have somebody build us an ark? What is goin on here? I can’t go out and have any fun with all this rain, ya know? I try not to get my feet a real mess but when I walk in the grass the squishes… I don’t stay out very long so I could get my fill of the morning smells but Mamaw rushes me a little.
But today it was okay to rush me! I’m goin to Reggie’s to see Kurt, Cathy and Jon. We’re gonna celebrate an early Father Day for Poppy (oh, and don’t forget his birthday on the 22nd). I get bent out of shape waiting for them to finish getting stuff around and FINALLY getting in the Lexus. I keep telling Poppy my butt should be permanently planted there!
It wasn’t as nice a trip with the rain but sitting on Mamaw’s lap I get outside smells coming through the vent. I’m able to lean close enough to the vent my nose touches it so I know I’m getting all of the smells. It took an hour and a half to get there—and still raining. Mamaw carried me in so my feet wouldn’t make a mess. Everyone was there and we had a wonderful time together. Reggie fixed a wonderful lunch and even served birthday cake for Poppy! I didn’t get any human food but I sat at Mamaw’s feet just waiting for someone to drop something! It wasn’t my lucky day—guess the food was so good they didn’t want to miss a drop of it!
Finally at 5:00 p.m. the rain stopped—well it spitted a little but not so bad by then. Poppy and Jon “ran off together some where.” When they came back, it was decided he’s comin to stay a couple days with us! Miss Cathy will come another time. And then it was time to come home. Poppy drove along and we pretty much just listened to the CD player. Nice day—I was good. I got lots of compliments. I’m happy.
We walk in the door at home and Mamaw’s is only there for a little bit and then she’s in her closet huntin for books for Miss Betty. “A birdie” told her she had finished her only book. So she gets all those around and cuts some Rice Kris pie Bars (Betty’s Fav) and off she goes in her car. She said Miss Betty had the lights off and was resting so she didn’t stay too long—left the books and bars—grabbed the laundry—and headed home. By then it was 9:00 p.m. Time for us to relax down. At 9:30 I was ready for bed. Night Mamaw—night Poppy.
