“Oh Poppy, by the way, I dumped 2 ¾” rain from the gauge yesterday,” Mamaw told him first thing this morning. Wow! That much huh? Well, we all know it’s been A LOT! And there was all kinds of thunder, lightening and rain in the night. I just cuddled down in my kennel and was thankin Mamaw for covering it to make it dark.
But, it’s still rainin today—good Lord, is it ever gonna stop? There are flash flood warnings EVERYWHERE. Mamaw tried to get me to go outside to go potty but I did the ole “spread eagle” and just refused. She asked a couple more times and I didn’t even bother to look at her. Now she’s a real smart lady and kind too, but just how DUMB does she really think I am? I’m gonna hold it! Well, as long as I can anyway—I better not pee on the carpet or she’ll be mad at me. I was pleased though that she gave me a chance to “perform” my tricks for her and I got my treats! I’m not DUMB that way either!
Poppy will get ready for work. Mamaw fixed his lunch last night cause she’s got lots to finish up today with our “road trip” yesterday. I’ll just leave her to that and stay out of the way—let’s just pray the rain lets up soon. Okay, so I can’t wait any longer—come on Mamaw—let’s go outside. AND IT WAS POURING RAIN so she put a jacket over her head but she still got very, very wet. I didn’t mess around, I found the first grass that looked good and did my thing. Back in the house, I’m sopping wet. She grabs a towel and wraps me up in it—well she tries that is. She throws the towel over my back and tries to get it around my middle and my feet are hangin out! It’s hilarious—you have to see her in action to get it. Anyway, I try to humor her as much as I can, but no amount of rubbing with a towel will get me dry. That’s why I have the blue pad on my half of the couch! When the rain stopped, she dumped the rain gauge again—1 ½” AGAIN.
Mamaw is going someplace again—I can tell. I look at her with those big, brown puppy eyes and she says, “Now Miss Scarlett, this is the day I’m going to the hospital to take Betty down to McDonalds for lunch.” Oh—that’s right…I forgot. Well, she’s all duded up with her jewelry and everything. I told you when she’s like that she is a “walking target” for me. I gotta get Poppy to get a picture of her sometime to put on the website so you can see just what I mean.
She came back and put my harness on me and off we went for a walk. Oh—but not before we go through this you can’t go ahead of me stuff again. I’m getting better—but I get in a hurry to get back in the house so that’s where I gotta be more patient.
We played the rest of the afternoon—Miss Froggy started her talking to me again and when she does she’s got my full attention! She’s my bestest friend of all my toys. I don’t play with toys like I did when I was just little bitty though. I don’t know why but that’s the way it is.
Poppy got home from work with the checkbook and Mamaw went shopping. She was in a rush to get home though cause they haven’t had their dinner yet. Poppy fixed eggs, ham, and French toast. Mamaw fixed the orange juice and set the table. Every now and then when they’re both workin in the kitchen they run into each other. She makes me lay on the rug at the front door and stay out of the way. When they are done, I go to the kitchen to see if they dropped any of their good stuff. Not often—but once in a while I hit pay dirt!
We’re goin to Reggie’s tomorrow so I’m gonna just hang out and maybe even put myself to bed tonight so I’ll be rarin to go!
