Poppy got up—then Mamaw—then JON came up out of the hole in the wall! What a way to start our day. Mamaw is gonna run pick up the new faucet at Office Depot before it’s gone. Our “fix-it” guy had a lot of trouble with Mamaw’s so they’re gonna put a new one in. And so she’s gone—and Poppy and Jon want to go someplace so I get stuck in the kennel. What’s wrong with this picture? She was back in a hurry though—it looks like RAIN AGAIN!!

Mamaw is back and am I glad!!! The sky is black—and I MEAN BLACK . And the wind is coming up too! Oh my God; what does this mean? Rain, snow, sleet? Help me please Mamaw. And then the siren went off and Mamaw grabbed me up and took me down into that big hole. She says that means we need to go there to be safe. And then you know Mamaw—she can’t just not do anything so she snuck back upstairs and grabbed the stuff she needed to clean the windows down here. She never rests—then she wonders why she is tired. Get a grip Mamaw—listen to Poppy once in a while why don’t you?

As the storm rages on, Mamaw is cleaning the windows and my tummy gets really upset and I am running upstairs but I almost fall down. I make it though and then I throw up by the bathroom door. Mamaw comes running to see what in the world is going on and is pretty upset with me. They had John Swanson clean the carpet and now she says I am makin a mess of it! I’m sorry Mamaw—this weather is just too scary for me… “Okay, Miss Scarlett let’s just put you in your kennel for protection and maybe you’ll feel better,” she said. That’s okay with me…I don’t feel good.

The guys come back and get busy with the TV and the whatsamacallit. This guy comes on the TV and is talking about derivatives and formulas and all kinds of stuff that makes no sense to Mamaw and me. I do get to sit between the guys though and I PRETEND I know what he’s talking about so hope nobody asks me to solve a problem! And Mamaw just gets busy washing more windows! She does a really good job cause she takes the screens outside and hoses them down too. When she got done she was dripping wet—tired—layed down a little while.

At 5:00 they stuffed me in the kennel and they went out to eat. They came right back though and got me. I get to ride along to Fort Dodge to take Jon home. And Poppy let him drive the Lexus! He hardly EVER let’s Mamaw—bet she’s mad about that! Oh maybe her feelings are hurt? What do you think about that Mamaw? I lay down in the back seat and just enjoy the ride. And we didn’t stay there very long and we’re on the road again. Mamaw was saying it would sure feel good to be home and Poppy said, “Once we hit highway 141 I know it’s only about 20 minutes to our driveway.” I was glad too. We’re goin to bed folks—morning will be here before we know it.
