Oh boy today is really a BIG DAY! The painters showed up early this morning and started putting plastic over the windows in the kitchen and over the front door! Poppy went out through the garage and they’re gonna be workin there too! Poppy came in and said, “We’re not going to be able to get out for a while.” Mamaw is so smart—she said, “I’m gonna take Miss Scarlett on a small walk and check it out.” Off we went and she found out what she wanted to know…

You see, Mamaw has taken so many photo opportunities of me, that the camera is acting up. Poppy has been on the Internet looking…and they wanted to get out and go buy one. Target’s website said they had one on Valley West Drive. Mamaw has also been interested in a Notebook and asked Poppy to go look at it with her. When the knock on the door came that they could get the car out of the garage, they moved my kennel into the hallway so I wouldn’t be so apt to want to be the watchdog. They just don’t understand…

They weren’t gone very long and came home without anything. I don’t think things went as they wanted it to so I kept my mouth shut. More laundry—washed, hanging up and in the dryer. Mamaw said it was time for a long walk. We had to go out the big double doors downstairs and I did good! I really did!!! We walked a long ways and nearly home I just had to stop and drop down. She was good about giving me water but I think I’m too hot! She was good—she waited. We made it home and I just wanted to go to my kennel. I wasn’t there very long when I shot out of there and headed for the waterbed! Oh my God—I’m gonna be sick!!!! Oh no, all over Mamaw and Poppy’s quilt too. Then when she got me back to the living room, I felt I was going to be sick again—I was but she caught me in time to slip a towel under me, thank goodness.

And now I feel terrible. Mamaw has all of this cleaning up to do. Poppy was sleeping and she shook him awake and said, “I need help.” She sure did—she was afraid I’d be sick yet again and there was that mess all over the quilt. Well, I wasn’t sick again—thankfully. And I won’t bother to give you the details of the clean-up crew only to say I thought Mamaw was gonna get sick too!

After a lengthy phone conversation with her daughter, Deb, she took the quilt to the cleaners and then came home and told Poppy it was gonna cost $25-$30 to clean it and it wouldn’t get back for pick-up for 6 days! Good naturedly, Poppy said, “We’ll allocate that expense to Scarlett.” I’m afraid I’m getting too expensive for them—they’re old you know.

They got gussied up and went out for the evening—I could have cared less. I did feel better when they got home and played around on the bed with Mamaw for a while before going back to my kennel. Oh, by the way, she had to wash the sheets and pillow cases too—just in case there was splatter. Poor Mamaw…
