I have become almost paranoid Mamaw says. When we were outside last week and she was weeding there were some really BIG noises and fast moving stuff goin on and now I don’t enjoy going out. Mamaw told Poppy, “It’s like pulling teeth to get Scarlett to go out to go potty—she is down to 3-4 times a day.” That’s right—I’m stayin in where I feel safe…
It’s Sunday and not much goin on. I don’t want to go outside and that makes Mamaw sad. The noises—they just scare me. She says we gotta get to work on that cause that isn’t good.
I got a bath today—oh it felt so good! Now I gotta dry so I can go see Miss Betty. I don’t like to fiddle with the towel dry or the blow dry so Mamaw got the ‘gate’ and her white plastic chair and we went outside. I wasn’t really very happy about that one I can tell ya. If asked if I would rather not do the bath as to have to be outside with the noises, I might have said, I don’t need a bath.” The fresh air helped a lot so she let me back in—FINALLY.
So she and Poppy sit and read the paper. It’s pretty quiet around here this morning. Poppy has to go to work so he’ll have to be getting ready before long. I think Mamaw is bored with the Des Moines Register this morning or else has something else on her mind. She doesn’t seem very happy and I wonder if she is okay. I’m tryin to be good cause I know before long it will be ride time and I want to be on the bus.
Miss Betty looked so good when we went to the lunch room to see her. Everybody else was there eating also but I was good…I didn’t beg for any food.” All of those humans thought I was a really good girl. I just hope Mamaw doesn’t tell them I’m a ‘scardy kat’ cause of the noises. Oh please Mamaw—don’t tell. Thank God—she didn’t. I made it through that. Then Mamaw pushed Betty back to her room in the wheelchair and I just walked right beside her like I knew what I was doin. I tell ya—people are impressed!!!
Then we stopped at PetSmart and went in the store. People there made a “big fuss” over me too. LuAnn wasn’t there to say hello to so I missed that. Up and down the aisles we went so I think I got some cat food, dog food and probably some bird feed. Well, it didn’t really matter to me; that’s why I like to go. We got our supplies and got out of there. I was ready to come home and it was so crowded. I told Mamaw we should just go home and relax—we did!
The rest of the evening is a blur. I think that cause I don’t think we did anything but I can’t remember. I do remember going into the bedroom and staying with Mamaw until 10:00 p.m. when she brought me back to my bed. “See you in the morning, Miss America,” she said.
