Spring must be on its way soon cause we seem to be getting around earlier in the mornings. And the sun is shining again! Everybody seems to be better adjusted when we see the sun. Mamaw has to turn the blinds so the sun doesn’t come in on the East side of the living room and make it hard to see the big box that has pictures changing on it all of the time.
The walk came a little later; after it had warmed up some. We walked down by the elementary school again but this time when those lights kept changing colors, we went South across the street. I’m trying to ask her what the deal is and she’s trying to tell me I need to pay attention and just trust her. Well, I went the way she wanted me to go but kept sort of looking to the side to see if those big cars were going to hit me. After we got over and back, she told me I was a good girl and we just headed straight home.
I can tell Mamaw plans on going someplace. She’s in the bathroom with soap all over her leg and she’s dragging a metal thing up and down—then she does the same thing to the other leg. She says she’s shaving her legs. And then the shower, washing the hair, putting on makeup—all of the things she does when she appears in the living room as “the walking target.” She’s gonna go someplace alright.
Poppy’s home from the grocery store. We get to help him put the stuff away. I like to make a bit of a drama out of the situation but there was no humor from the family so I’d better let it go.
The car is warming up—now Mamaw is in the car (without me) and off she goes. She’s not gone very long and she’s back! She told Poppy it was the job interview that never happened. Well, something DID happen alright—she was to have a job interview but when she got there nobody knew the guy she was supposed to meet so she finally came home. She’s bummed out so if I were you—I wouldn’t yank her chain! Just let her work it out of her system and she’ll be okay later. I’m gonna be quiet and nap—staying clear of her—she’ll let me know when it is all better for her. (groan)
They left for a couple of hours but then came back home. Mamaw let me have a new bone! I almost ate the whole thing last night! Sometimes I do that—other times I’m not as interested. I got my new haircut brushed too but she forgot to brush my teeth. I’ll bet that’s gonna happen tomorrow. Mamaw tells Poppy, “Scarlett is high maintenance.” I wonder what that means?
