There is talk of 4-6 inches of snow later on today so we got up and got around. Mamaw let me stay out quite a little while first thing and then brought me into the house. Do you know, she makes me sit on the rug while she dries my paws? She says she does it so the ice melt and snow are not left on my paws. I guess it’s a good idea. Anyway, then she had me do my tricks. She thinks I don’t notice, but she is getting stingy with the treats. I used to get one for EACH trick; now I get one for every two tricks. She’s pretty cleaver, don’t you think?
A sort abbreviated walk this morning. All that garb she has to put on is about too much for a 10 minute walk, but we did it anyway. Those new grippers are doing a good job of holding her up. When I try to go ahead of her and pull the leash tight; the spin out on the ice. I suppose I could learn something from that huh?
Aw—the walk; that was to wear me out for my first shampoo bath. Mamaw has had me in the tub before but she just wet me down and a cup of water at a time. This time, she ran water in the tub and took the shower off the hook. She wanted me to see and fee and touch it so I wouldn’t be afraid. She’s really good about stuff like that—she thinks that takes some of the stress out of new things for me. Anyway, Poppy did a photo opp of me all wet. I’ll bet I look wonderful, don’t you? She scrubbed and played and talked to me all the time she was bathing me. I chased the water from the shower head part of the time and we just laughed and laughed. When it was time to get out of the tub, she had towels for me to get on. Of course I had to do the typical “dog shake” before she helped me out. Then she rubbed and rubbed me with a towel until she thought I was dry enough to go to a towel in the living room. Poppy got the hair dryer and we played silly, fun games while she dried me. I’m sure tired—I’ll bet she is too! She waited until I was totally dry and then she offered me treats as she brushed me. I feel wonderful now.
Naughty is as naughty does so I’ve spent a few hours either in my kennel or my leash around the door knob. Boy, I hate that! I can’t help it that I want to jump up all the time can I? God, I don’t want to grow up.
It is snowing again and as you know, I LOVE IT! I keep trying to get outside to eat some of that new snow. It gets all over my body so when we come in, she has to wipe everything. If my paws didn’t get so cold, I would just want to stay out there. But instead I’ll settle down and watch the movie with Mamaw and Poppy.
And boy did she put the skids to me! She opened that big door and went into that tunnel and came back with a gate. Poppy was resting in the bedroom and I wouldn’t leave him alone. I would scratch at the door and whine so she set it up so I couldn’t scratch any more. I did try to continue whining but she would say, “Quiet.”
