I think it was Forrest Gump who said, "Life is just a bowl of cherries" wasn't it? There are still some of those crab apples outside that have dried up and when I can 'sneak' one by Mamaw, I drag it in the house. Course she really doesn't want me to have them so I do it to her on purpose! I get a payoff which I look forward to. She goes to my "snaps" box and gets a treat and then she thinks she is "training me" to leave it for the treat. Little does she realize that I'm one step ahead of her...there is a purpose in my behavior. I'm smart though to let her think what she wants. It doesn't hurt anybody that way.
The lumber yard was supposed to deliver our new window between 8-12 noon today so Mamaw jumped out of bed and moved all the plants away from that big sliding door down in the basement. And then she got newspapers to put on the floor where she and Poppy decided they would have em put the window. She's all ready for them....
BUT WAIT! NOON PASSES BY AND NO DELIVERY! Okay, so what now? I asked her if we were gonna wait all day...she said we'll wait until 3:00 p.m. 3:00 PM PASSES AND NO DELIVERY! This is gettin serious now...she called her repairman--no answer--left a message...the rest of the afternoon was pretty well shot. I stayed out of the way I can tell ya!
Finally I said, "Mamaw, you're goin out tonight with family aren't ya? Don't let them spoil your mood." And with that she headed for the shower and brought out her cream jeans, her Notre Dame turtleneck and her navy blue blazer and got duded up. She looked really nice too--then she put a "funky scarf-like affair" around her neck and those "I can't live without em" earrings.
She started the car--I wanted a ride but Mamaw said, "Oh Miss Scarlettt--I can't do that today. I gotta go to Lowe's to buy something to put down under the window if they ever deliver it so I can get it painted before installation. And then I gotta go over on 8th Street and find the place to get the paint. We'll just have to do that on another day." She was gone--but not for long. When she got home there was only one package--now--how's that?
Poppy walks in the door and I can't get to him fast enough. I just miss him so much during the day and when he walks in the door, I just say, "Mamaw--he's MINE." Love, love, kiss, kiss, rub-a-dub-dub and out the door they go.
Lot's to celebrate tonight--Mamaw and Poppy's anniversary on the 1st and Miss Judy's birthday on the 9th. They went to Trostel's Greenbriar in Johnston and had a wonderful meal and great company. Then they drove back to John (my guy) and Judy's to visit and the guys played pool. Great, great evening...they came home and let me out to go potty for the last time and then Mamaw said, "Miss Scarlett, tonight you stay on the couch with Poppy cause I'm ready to go night-night" and off she went. Okay Poppy--guess it's just you and me!
