Mr. John came by today to see about our weather stripping needs. You know, he’s that good lookin dude I fell for but don’t tell Ozzie—he might not appreciate that! John said it all looks pretty darned good and Mamaw said we weren’t taking the doors off to do another thing then. He did fix the doors so they closed a little tighter—ya know; try to hold down on the heat? Mamaw and Poppy are old—they need more heat than you and I do!
Other than that, we have a pretty quiet morning all in all. Poppy is off to work AS USUAL so I gotta wait a long time for him to get to come home…and so at our house, it’s all about Christmas. Poppy bought the cards and gift cards and got busy first thing this morning getting em ready to mail. Mamaw will do that later today when she is out on errands.
This afternoon she gathered up a whole stack of “stuff” and shoved my hind end in the kennel—I KNEW…and of course she was gone a long, long time too. Says it is just impossible to do ANYTHING in a hurry during this time of year. And she absolutely insisted she was going to the Valley West Mall for her hour walk…
Then she met Sue, the gal she went on the cruise with last year. Sue presented her with a bottle of wine from her trip to Pennsylvania and they visited and shopped just a little. I was happy to have Mamaw come home to me—AND SHE PLAYED AND PLAYED WITH ME so I think she missed me too!
Pepperoni Pizza for dinner (with a Coke) and we all just kind of relaxed for the evening. Poppy recalled some of the events to her today and she shared some events with him. It’s kinda nice to be part of their communication and sometimes—well sometimes I’M SWORN TO SECRECY!
At 10:00 p.m. Mamaw tried to get me in my kennel for the night and I said, “Hey—no way—I haven’t been to the waterbed with ya yet.” Okay; I got my way (smile). From there I don’t know what time she picked me up and carried me to my bed.

- Since 1982 I have wanted to write a book. But it was never possible for me to dedicate myself to writing so I pushed it aside. Permanent retirement caught up with me in March 2010. I began writing that novel and it is finished; now in its 4th editing. And during that time, I've become selfish about having it published. You see, it is a true story--MATCH.COM--and much too intimate to share with the masses. It is being held back for family and friends to enjoy at the proper time. And as previously mentioned, Miss Scarlett came into our lives at just the right time to completely enjoy her. She had a voice in this house from the very beginning and wanted to share feelings from her point of view from the beginning--I gave her that audience. Then she decided to take a break for nearly a year--she is back folks!
