Bob from Home Pro’s is comin today to put in our new window and finish weather stripping the windows. So Mamaw is busy movin everything out of the way. Oh my Lord—it’s a BIG JOB! So everything in this house is in an uproar again…hope this kinda stuff ends soon…there was so much noise in the house I just wanted to scream and I think Poppy felt the same way. We shut ourselves in the office and let Mamaw take care of the business. Poppy had to write the check though…she didn’t want to be responsible for that! In the evening she made the comment that she thought it was warmer in the living room—is she right; or is she hopin?
I got a great walk again—Off Leash. My nose gets to capture all of those wonderful “dog smells” that people just don’t give a hang about. And when she comes at me with the leash to “get hooked back up”—well, I’m not going there I can tell ya. Ya hear me—I’m not going there! Give me a break Mamaw—I’m a BIG GIRL NOW!
Poppy rested all afternoon. We had a big day and evening in Mason City and he’s pooped. Mamaw and me—we just kinda do our own thing. She started to dust the furniture and then just announced that SHE WAS GOING ON ANOTHER WALK! She didn’t invite me—I would have gone too. But when she takes her “diet walk” she goes evermore fast and I don’t enjoy that. I don’t want to take a chance on missin one single smell I need to know about. My theory is: You don’t know what “smells” you can’t live without until you find it.” I stole that from Mamaw but don’t tell her. When she goes shopping she always says, “You don’t know what you CAN’T LIVE WITHOUT until you find it”…same thing only people and dogs are somewhat different.
I found myself “shoved” into the kennel about 4:00 p.m. Poppy and Mamaw are goin down to Barnes and Noble to look at that electronic reader she thinks she’s interested in. They have both been online checkin it out so now they think it’s time to check it out in person. When they left Mamaw said, “Now, we aren’t planning on buying anything tonight—WRONG! They came home with the Nook e-reader, a book light and a wonderful leather reader holder that looks a lot like that one sculpture at Pappajohn’s Park downtown. The ALPA letters are all goofed up—I suppose she’s gonna say the Hispanics designed that and they couldn’t speak English either! (Smile).
And then Poppy started cookin a pork loin on his “special cooker” and the house smelled absolutely good enough to eat! Mamaw fixed him some old fashioned fried potatoes to go with that and served grapefruit slices (they love that stuff). I didn’t get any but not for lack of trying…
And I have to tell ya again, There’s no place like home!
