Mamaw had me up and out the door almost before I was awake this morning! Poppy is all dressed for playin golf and smellin real good I might add. He wants to spend some time with me before he leaves so I gotta get up! Besides that, Mamaw has to have some of my “poop” to take when we see Miss Jessica to get “winterized.” They check my poop once a year to make sure nothing grows in there that shouldn’t.

We see Poppy off in that Lexus of his and we start the laundry. Oh my God, there is tons of laundry today! And when I get naughty helping her? She won’t let me go downstairs with her so we’ll see how this battle goes.

Yep, I’m locked out of the bedroom while Mamaw gets dressed. And then she gathers up all of the stuff we need to take to the Ashworth Animal Hospital with us. I think I’m goin for a ride so I can’t stand still long enough to get hooked up on my leash. Oh—she’s gonna be grouchy with me today! Well, she told Poppy it’s hard to take me to the vet alone cause when they are done torturing me, I can’t wait to get out the door. She’s left trying to write a check. But she tells him to go, have a good time, probably the last round of golf for the year.

We get to the vet (poop doubled wrapped) and hand it over to be checked. She makes me sit—and hush. I hear dogs and cats and I’m trying to communicate with em and Mamaw says hush. She wants to show off how well I behave I think so since I kinda got “barked at” earlier this morning, I’m gonna behave.

I weigh 22.2 lbs. And Jessica says I am in wonderful health. Then she comes at me (with the help of a technician) and they give me—ARE YA READY FOR THIS FOLKS?—4 shots. And that’s after she’s looked in my mouth, in my eyes, at my tummy—I don’t think she missed a spot. Well, I was good—didn’t squeal or cry at all. Now it’s time to leave and I WANT OUT—except we gotta pay the bill—BE PATIENT, I TELL MYSELF. Soon, Scarlett, soon!

In the car Mamaw says, “Want to go on a ride now Miss Scarlett, for bein such a good girl”? Oh yeah… We went to the gas station and got gas and ran Mamaw’s pride and joy through the car wash. Then she started us on our drive and while I’m sittin up lookin around, my eyes keep trying to close. She said we’d better head for home so I hope I get a better ride another time.

I hear the sanding again! She really wants to get that project done. She worked and worked and FINALLY the sanding is done. She’s so proud. Now she can wipe the wheel barrel down with that sticky cloth she bought and return the sander to Jessica. You can bet when she gives it back, it will be clean as a whistle and have sandpaper in it too! She’s that kinda gal, she is she is.

I’ve just been restin all day and evening. Mamaw didn’t cook cause she’s alone. I wonder what she would do about that if Poppy wasn’t here? I suppose I’d just have to get after her…

Finally the door opens and Poppy steps in. I’m so glad to see him! There’s just something not right about both of them not being here. We talked a while, loved a while, and went to bed for a while. But not before Mamaw shut me out of the bedroom and told me to share some time with my Poppy…she’s really good about equal time. (smile)
