October 13, 2010 (Afternoon Surprise)

Aw yes—the SURPRISE! Mamaw grabs up “my bag” and Poppy jingles his keys—that means a trip. The Lexus—now I don’t mind the trips in that car—it rides like a dream. But we drive, and drive and drive and I think we’re never gonna get there. Stopped for gas once and Mamaw took me out to go potty. I didn’t want to go potty—it was a scary place and I was afraid they were just gonna dump me out. No way was I gonna let that happen to me. Now I know I can be a very bad girl sometimes but for God’s sake—don’t just dump me out someplace and leave me…and so we manage to get back on the road and drive and drive some more. Then we get to this little town (about 500 people) and they start looking for an address there. It was a lovely home and then I kinda worried they were gonna leave me THERE!

I hesitated getting out of the car cause I wasn’t sure what was goin on here. And here came a little girl with huge smiles all over her face. What a cutie is was too! We started up the driveway and the whole family came out to greet us. Mamaw tells me that’s my BREEDER FAMILY—and we’ve come to visit.
My Mamaw, Nydia, Briana, the twins and Conner--well, and Me

“This is where your Mom lives, Miss Scarlett,” Mamaw said, “and Poppy and I want to introduce you to her. Oh! Will she know me—or will I know her? Will we like each other? It would be horrible if we didn’t get along—after all, I’m all grown up and make my own decisions now (well, with the help of Mamaw and Poppy—they are my parents now).”

We did the usual “getting to know you” procedures that dogs do and found we were okay with each other. It went perfectly okay—the family is wonderful and Mom thought I’d grown up okay so it was a successful trip.

Comin home, we were all just pretty quiet in the car. I was EXHAUSTED from all of the runnin around and it was a long drive. When we got home it was very dark and a very tired bunch of us so it was really time to go to bed. But I wasn’t ready—I needed some reassurance from Mamaw and our waterbed. I stayed quite a long time and Mamaw transferred me to my kennel while I was still sleeping. Good day!
