Things are coming up roses today…well, kinda. At least Mamaw got up and got dressed this morning. And Poppy, God bless him, is going to work. But we got around and put a very nice lunch together for him and sent him on his way.

And then I was sad—I wondered what was going to become of us today. And to my surprise, Mamaw told me ‘not to let her lay down today’ so I didn’t! She sorta got busy around the house; oh, not doin anything big but she was UP so that’s a great start. She got meat out of the freezer for dinner…that is also a step in the right direction.
We were in and out a number of times today. She tells me we’re goin to have a problem cause it’s apparent to her that I didn’t like the HOT weather and she doesn’t like the COOLER WEATHER. I’m convinced we’ll work something out.

My nose has been pretty intense and I can just smell everything. In fact, this evening I just knew Ozzie was outside. I jumped up and down, begged and nearly turned myself wrong-side out before she would take me out. We rounded the corner and I dragged her (yes, dragged her) over to the back of Ozzie’s house—and who was there in living color? OZZIE—and he felt a little more like playing too. I guess Becky has him on an antibiotic for his hip. I’m so glad…I was getting worried that maybe he didn’t like me as much as ever cause sometimes he would just ignore me. We had fun, we went home, I’m happy now.

Mamaw had her new laptop buzzin today too. She told me she hasn’t written a word for her novel in 3 days so she really wanted to try to make up for that. I lay and rested from time to time and other times I would drag a toy to her and indicate that I wanted to play. She was very good to stop and play. I think the ole girl is on the mend!

And dinner was delicious; well, so they tell me. Mamaw fixed stuffed pork chops in a soup mixture. I jumped up between em for dinner but I GOT NONE. In fact, she was pretty testy when I put my chin on THEIR table and she made me get down, can ya believe it? She made me get down.

It’s football night. My God they are going crazy. They’re tryin to keep an eye on the Iowa – Penn State game and the Notre Dame-Boston College. I’ve never seen em so testy with each other—what’s the score? Who did what? Oh no, I missed that. Well, you can see what I’m up against, can’t you?

Well, I gotta admit it—she wore me out today. Maybe I shoulda let her lay down cause she was “on fire” for her cause. Being tired and all, I just couldn’t get interested in the football games but they’re both happy. Iowa and Notre Dame won—hot damn! I’m just gonna put myself to bed.
