We got Poppy’s lunch around for him and Mamaw started HER CAR TOO! Now what’s goin on? “We got all kinds of work to do today,” she informs me. “But first, let’s get these leaves over to the disposal place.” She let me ride along… And trust me—I was good! Then we went for a ride and I loved that too.

We got back and she went outside to get the last of the outside stuff in the basement for winter. And then she started MORE laundry! My God—how many outfits do they wear a day anyway? She’s been countin pills and getting stuff rounded up—and then I’m in the kennel.

She came back with a Trader Joe’s bag—yep, she couldn’t stand it! Just had to go see what the new store in West Des Moines was like—and she said she liked it. She’s gonna have to eat in the car or a rest stop area on our way to Michigan, so she picked up some bread, peanut butter, crackers and a Cobb salad. Poppy will just have to go eat alone…I can’t go in where they serve food. Mamaw says that’s just okay—we’ll manage. Guess my brown eyes got to her cause I’m gonna be saved from EXILE this time.

She didn’t bother to let me out of the kennel. Instead she got her IPod and went for a walk. I wasn’t at all interested…

She made such a wonderful dinner!  The kitchen smelled so good I thought I’d die right there. She made me stay on the rug though. I kept beggin but got NONE. She started the oven and fixed pork chops with dressing, raisins and cinnamon. Then she put orange juice in the bottom of her dish and covered it with foil—Poppy said it was way too good to share with me. Then she opened a squash and turned it upside down in the pan and put some water in there and covered it with foil. Now why would she turn the squash upside down if she wants to put “stuff” in there? Well, I found out later when it was tender and she added the “goodies” to it. I did manage to get a couple snack “snaps.”

After dinner she goes from room to room and changes the clock. Yep, it’s that time of year now. We gotta fall back an hour. She has one little antique clock she got the back stuck on and she got so angry! I backed out of the kitchen—don’t want Mamaw mad at me! She went to the garage for the WD40 and tried sprayin it but it still won’t let loose. I guess that clock is gonna be off until time to “spring forward” again.

Poppy was so tired he was all spread out on the couch with his mouth open and was he ever cutting lumber! Scared the hell out of me…I just kept lookin at him until he’d make that awful, loud noise again and then I’d back up real fast. Never did figure out what that was all about…
