It's a BIG DAY today--Cully's funeral.  Poppy had to run out and get a haircut and when he came home he showed Mamaw this yellow argyle sweater he bought and asked her if she liked it.  (Of course she liked it--she tried to talk him into buying it earlier and he didn't)  He sure made her day with that!

The sun comes and goes and Mamaw told Poppy she was hopin for 'no rain' at least until Cully was lowered into the ground.  She got her wish.  She said it rained 'cats and dogs' and Poppy had to let her out at the church door but then it cleared when they left for the cemetery.

I couldn't go on the drive with them cause they drove down to Mount Ayr, IA where he wanted to be buried.  I'm sure they got to talk about a lot of things on the way though as they usually do.  When they got home, it was dark--and I was glad to see em.  "I shared with ya Cully--without complaint."

They said the church was gorgeous and all decked out for the holidays--tree and all.  And it was a wonderful service too.  Everybody had a story, or more, to share with us so there was laughter and tears.  Just the way a "Celebration Of Life" should be.

I asked if Ozzie got to be there and Mamaw said, "Oh no, Miss Scarlett--even as IMPORTANT AS HE WAS TO CULLY DOGS CAN'T GO TO THE FUNERAL.  I can't wait till Ozzie gets home and I get to see him!

It was a really, really quiet evening around our house.  "Nothing was stirring--not even a mouse."  Night everybody...
