Well good mornin Mamaw—did you sleep good last night? Poppy asked her the same question. Still got that ole snotty nose and needs to dress warmer when she takes me out to “go.” I like the weather much better now that it is cooler but she’s got a problem with it.
We’ve done my tricks—got Poppy’s lunch packed—got him off to work—now what? “I’m not up to runnin any races today,” Mamaw told me so guess we’ll just go with the flow and just see what happens next.
She got to work and did some stuff she just couldn’t stand anymore and then she sat down with a cup of hot tea and read the paper. The phone rang and she answered—her friends’ son, Ronnie has passed away. No other details—don’t know when or any funeral arrangement plans but we know he died of cancer. Mamaw cried a while about that too…I just snuggled as close as I could get to her so she’d know how much I care for her. There have just been too many losses for her to cope with and she’s on hurtin status.
The computer started click, click, clicking and I honestly just left her alone with what she was doin—again; I have NO IDEA—but it doesn’t matter. She has to work things out in her own way.
Becky from next door called and asked if we would take care of Ozzie and of course we said yes. They are gone for the day to see some of his family so we want to help as much as we can. And Mamaw is so good to take Ozzie for as long a walk as he feels up to…while I wait for her to come home.
There was some ham left over from fixin Poppy’s lunch so Mamaw cut it up in little squares and fixed it in scalloped potatoes for dinner. It sure looked good—but I got none. And Poppy walked in the door with goodies!!!! Oh my gosh, was she EXCITED…he brought home a Blizzard for her and a hot fudge sundae for himself—again I got none.
And then they settled in to watch the Notre Dame versus Army game. It was so exciting I sat quietly on Mamaw’s lap and allowed Poppy and Mamaw to caress me as long as they wanted to. And Notre Dame won 27-3. They are very, very happy.
Now to bed on the waterbed…but couldn’t get myself very comfortable so I got down on the floor beside the bed. I don’t know how long I was there cause Mamaw picked me up and took me to my bed. Busy day for me—all that watch dogin…
