It is colder today and Mamaw doesn't like it. I like it lots better than that HOT stuff! But she doesn't want to hang around outside as long as I do--gotta get her goin on her walks again so she'll be used to it.
Mamaw looks all dressed up and smells good--Poppy looks all dressed up and smell good too--wonder what's up? And am I included? Turns out Poppy is goin to the nursing home to visit his Mom and go on to see family and friends--I don't get to go with him. But Mamaw is going down to Cummings about her Holly plant clippings she's callin "Patricia" and she said I could go. Well, alright--get my leashed up, start the car and let's go! It was just a wonderful ride with her. She strokes me as she drives and then puts her hand down on the seat and I put my chin on her hand...warm and fuzzy. Okay...done with that. She drove right back to our house and we got in the house; she stayed for a little while and then had the nerve to shove my butt in the kennel and said, "Miss Scarlett, I'm goin to the Perry Tea Room to meet up with sister Mary for lunch. We're gonna celebrate our Christmas together just in case the weather would turn bad and we wouldn't be able to get together."
When she got home she told me all about her day...and I had to look like I was interested. Anyway, she took lots of photos again and shared about how Perry took a real "hit" after IBP sold out and they began to hire non-union labor. But she's really happy at the way that town has recovered and gives all the credit to the Chamber of Commerce for their efforts in "the comeback of the century." They have a nice tea room, the Patee Hotel, a great shoe store, a new middle and high school and wonderful looking senior housing. Ya know, Mamaw used to live in Perry years ago so she has a real interest in the place.
You can guess though that there was shopping too~! I promised not to tell...but at 5:00 p.m. I started my "watch" for Poppy to get home--it took him hours! Ya know, a girl could get real tired waitin on people don't ya? It was worth it though--I got hugs and kisses and lovin like I couldn't believe so guess I best forget about complainin too much. Mamaw was happy to see him too and they stayed up late to talk about their day--it's nice to have a family. And so, this Thanksgiving I am really thankful for such a loving and caring family. What are you thankful for?
