Mamaw got her Rainbow sweeper fixed that she thinks she can't live without. She hasn't used it yet--that nasty cold is still hauntin her. I've not seen her so lethargic before but Poppy is home so I'll hang with him! And you know what? She didn't even go outside the door other than to take me out to do my duty.
Her laptop is pretty busy today--don't know what she's up to for sure. She isn't sharin but I bet you the wheels are rollin, rollin, rollin. And she finished reading Katie Up and Down the Hall by Glenn Plaskin. The story is about a cocker spaniel who turned five neighbors into a family. She laughed a lot during most of the book and then Poppy and I could see tears rolling down her cheeks and she didn't read near as fast as usual. I asked her, "Mamaw, why you cryin so much"? She told me that Katie died and then after Katie died, Pa-Re-El (Pearl) just gave up--course Mamaw says she was very old in body but very young in spirit. Such a touching story--and well--it was the cocker spaniel angle that got to her. The author just made them "come to life" for her. She says she highly recommends the book--so go out and get it humans!
I guess you could say Mamaw is mourning the loss of three sisters in less than three years and then Katie and Pearl. On top of that, our Cully next door has cancer and he isn't improving as the doctor's had hoped, their yellow lab, Ozzie (my personal boyfriend choice) had another cancer removed and her friends' son is dying of cancer--definitely not a good fall for her! I'm gonna just be really good for her and to her cause I can't wait to hear her laughter again at some of my antics. I'll give her a couple of days while I dream up something "so cute" she won't be able to contain her laughter and we'll be back to normal again.
She rallied and made a wonderful dinner for us! She put chicken breasts in a pan with Cream of Mushroom soup over that--then she made a baked russet for Poppy and a baked sweet potato for her. She served bread and butter and fresh peaches with that. My mouth was waterin like crazy but ya know--I got none.
I didn't go back on the waterbed tonight. Dowling High School was playin football for "the big win" and she and Poppy sat together, holdin hands and enjoyin the game. I better not bother them...I'll just put myself to bed. Night Poppy--night Mamaw--hope your team wins!
