We knew this day was comin—in more ways than one! It’s the end of the month AND we’re in a terrible winter advisory! Wes, the KCCI-TV weatherman, is sayin we’re gonna have 13 ½ inches of snow! That got Mamaw’s attention right off the bat…she started makin a list and checkin it twice and she asked Poppy if he was gonna need anything for the next few days cause she’s goin out and getting it done.
I just knew I’d better be good about the kennel cause my food and treat supply is getting low. Mr. Ozzie has been eatin my SNAPS too so they don’t go as far. I agreed to be a good girl…and off I went…home again!
Poppy had to work and when Mamaw went to fix him lunch there wasn’t any sandwich stuff so she put the rest of his lunch together and said she’d get a sandwich at HyVee and bring his lunch to him. Ain’t she thoughtful? He thinks so too…Poppy’s out the door—Mamaw starts her car and before long she’s out the door too!
When she returns there are more sacks of groceries—I thought she was just concerned about milk but 6 sacks later she drags em in the house. She took off her coat and went to the bathroom and I thought she was home to say—WRONG! She gets duded back up in her coat and scarf and leaves me again. She wasn’t gone near as long this time and came in carryin ANOTHER SACK!
I love it when she lets me out to see what she’s putting away. Aw—I see those wooden hangers she talked about buyin for Poppy’s work pants cause they keep slidin off the plastic ones. And she’s got cough medicine and toilet paper and clothes washin soap. And in other sacks there is my food (thank God), and SNAPS and Banana-Peanut Butter treats for a change. I love it—Mamaw, don’t you go sharing my super-duper treats with Ozzie—those ARE MINE! As it is I have to share you and poppy and my SNAPS. A gal ought to have something she can call her own, don’t ya think?
Poppy got home and Mamaw fixed grilled cheese sandwiches and chicken noodle soup for supper. Well, Mamaw started to make the sandwiches—Poppy came to do it for her. He know she just LOVES his best! A got 2 little bites of her sandwich but they were mostly bread and very little cheese. Wish it’d been the other way around but I think she did that on purpose.
Mamaw told Poppy she’s signed up for that writing class at the Senior College—and Jessie’s gonna go too! It’s for 4 weeks but only 1 day a week so I’m not gonna make waves…She’s lookin forward to it and she deserves to do something besides take care of me and Poppy.
I got up and snuggled close as I could get to My Poppy andI I THINK I SLEPT THERE ALL NIGHT! Hope Mamaw won’t be mad at me cause I got to sleep with him—she wouldn’t appreciate another woman tryin to take over…
