Today is “smooch” day in America. Mamaw and Poppy had to get their’s done before he went to work. I got my belly rubs though—and those damned ear drops!
Mamaw got around and slipped out to get some errands done. She’s got wayyyyy tooooo many of those but I gotta keep my mouth shut—that’s for sure. Well, the drawer pull on the top dresser drawer fell off in Poppy’s hand this morning and she said she’d take care of it. They couldn't find the screw so I suppose that’s one of the errands. But then she came home to me…
AND GUESS WHAT! She put me in the car and opened the vent for air—that’s when I knew I was goin for a nice long drive. And we did too. I feel asleep sittin straight up and wouldn’t begin to lay down until there wasn’t much to look at. And I got the soft, butterfly caresses too. Gotta love it! That was MY valentine present. We drove to Perry because she wanted to pick up a special frame she had seen at the Tea Room for a grand daughter’s birthday AND GUESS WHAT? The Tea Room is closed…oh, oh—didn’t go over too well there.
She’s smart—she just took a different direction and went to Ben Franklin. Now—there’s a story that has everything in it. And she asked if the Tea Room was closed on Monday’s and they said, “No, it’s closed for good. But we hear rumors somebody might be trying to buy it.” So she shopped there while I napped and found a frame that will work.
She complained just a little about the winter thaw—now when she takes me and Ozzie out, our feet get muddy. So she wouldn’t take us out together cause she has not 4—but 8 paws to wipe—TWICE A DAY. It won’t last too long Mamaw—get a stiff upper lip! And with the snow melting we want to stay out longer and smell more of those yummy smells that have been covered up with snow. I tell ya—it is just wonderful. Not her her—but for us it is. We been waitin all winter for THIS!
She went back to the office to work and had TWO MESSAGES—she listened—oh my God! She had to call the flower place and tell them she was home for the rest of the day! Poppy did his thing folks—MORE ROSES! Twice they tried to deliver while we were on our wonderful car ride. When he delivered em Mamaw just almost cried—instead of baby’s breath—they put cute little pink and rose stuff in there. Mamaw is so lucky! She read the card to me and it said, “Thanks for being our Valentine. Happy Valentine’s Day and birthday—Poppy and Miss Scarlett.” Wasn’t he really nice to include me in that?
When Poppy got home they had a nice Lasagna dinner and cleaned up their area. I got none of course, but who is countin? She got that new movie Wall Street playin and they watched the movie. I sat between em so they couldn’t smooch but they held hands. It finally got so disgusting I just went to bed...
