I got up this morning and Hey—I feel better! I know just how Mamaw feels when she says, “You don’t realize how sick you are till you’re better.” Amen to that Mamaw—AMEN.
Poppy invited his Sweetie out for breakfast. They haven’t done that in a long time but I think they wanted to talk without having “EARS” around to hear.
As a result of feelin better, Poppy is on the phone, on his email program—well folks—he’s EVERYWHERE! Get it? He doesn’t have to work today! Mamaw and me are just goin to enjoy him ALL DAY!
Before long I hear em whisperin…hmmm, wonder what that’s all about. I always suspect that type of behavior includes me and they don’t want me to hear. I follow em around, but they’re tricky. When did they start spellin letters out for God’s sake? Oh, Mamaw is on the phone—I can hear her now. She wants to change my ear-recheck to today instead of tomorrow. I thought I heard her say “we wanted to road trip tomorrow.”
It turns out to be a very busy day. She ran off for a while and came home with her hair lookin just beautiful. Poppy thought so too! And the color of her hair is lighter—she’s a blonde for sure! She wasn’t home very long when she got a call from the beauty shop. Oh my God—Mamaw forgot her e-reader. Poppy is goin to be MAD. She told the hairdresser she would pick it up on our way to the veterinary clinic but Poppy said, “You forgot it?” He had that stern look on his face and Mamaw just felt awful so she jumped back in the car and went back to pick it up. They talked about how scary that is—somebody could have “lifted it” Poppy said and have a very nice reader. Mamaw—get a grip!
We then went to see Miss Jessica. She was prettier today than she was nearly a week ago. She didn’t prod in my ears so much; or at least it didn’t hurt this time. She talks real soft to me like Mamaw does. I love the warm, fuzzy feeling I get. She said I’m all better—well, except for that stuff sitting on my eardrum but we aren’t gonna worry about that right now. We are gonna take the “let’s wait and see” attitude but Mamaw has promised herself that the inside of my ears are gonna be kept clipped so I can get more air. Ya know—it’s hell havin these lovely ears when they get sick, but I guess that’s the price of beauty.
She fixed Poppy the dinner of his delight—she ate cereal. She fixed a piece of white, ocean fish with his favorite fried potatoes. She puts a whole lot of love in the process too). He had a fruit cup, slice of bread and a glass of milk. It was a good day, good evening, good night.
