Oh, oh—we’re in for it today! Wes at KCCI-TV weather studio says the snow and wind are comin at us today. Mamaw told Poppy it was gonna be a challenge to take care of Ozzie today. He still wants to go down to the trail to do “his thing” and the wind just whips her around. I choose to give her a break and try to get enough smells in around our yard that I can get er done.

Poppy is definitely home today—in bed most of the day. Just layin back there watchin TV so we gotta figure out our own thing. Mamaw doesn’t bother him much cause she thinks he must need the rest but we get bored. She said she was gonna have to teach me how to human talk so she would have a companion today!

She’s gonna wear her clothes out comin and goin and shovelin. She has a definite routine—coat, scarf (tossed around her head 2 times), hat (over her ears), then check the coat for a “poop sack.” Put the gloves on and push her feet in those funky shoes with the metal things that keep her from fallin and out we go. Good thing I can hold it long enough for all of that stuff huh? I know better than to wait till the last minute!

Mamaw fixed chicken and noodles with mashed potatoes for middle-of-the-day lunch. It sure smelled good and Poppy said it was but I didn’t get any.

And when it was time to get Mr. Ozzie, the weather was even worse! We trudged over there and through the snow drift at Miss Becky’s house and got him. He made us go all the way down to the end of the block to poop along the trail again and MAMAW GOT REALLY COLD! We came back to the house and Ozzie went right back to the bedroom with Poppy. They both napped…

He stayed most of the day cause Mamaw didn’t want to have to come and go so much and as long as he was content with Poppy she just left him. We did get our SNAPS later—he got his 4—I got my 2. And as always, he was brushed. Puts me to shame I tell ya—the way he just stands there and lets her do it. I’m tryin—not doin so good.

Mamaw evaluated my New Year’s Resolutions today and told me we were both “flunking.” Says we just gotta work on that. She says she’s bored so eating is a way to fill some time. I told her she’d better just get busy and write—that would take care of that. Hope we can see some improvement from both of us tomorrow. New month—new resolve.

Let’s go to bed…on the waterbed…and watch The Good Wife—I got to stay till Poppy came in later to join Mamaw. Just another day in paradise!
