Another day without Ozzie—well, almost! Since she is given up her duties to him, she’s pullin back a little bit so he won’t miss it so much! She didn’t ask me what I wanted…but we got a really nice walk and I was off-leash. I went in the road once on the trail and in the street once on Ashworth Road. Scared the hell outa Mamaw but I didn’t realize what was happenin. We’ve had snow for so long and could go wherever we wanted so she says I gotta learn all over again. We got back and I was mud from head to toe and I ended up in the bathtub with the shower cleanin my feet and under belly. It was awful—I’ve forgotten how to behave there too. But the point is—WE MADE IT!
I smelled hamburger cookin for lunch and I prayed for just a little bit but got none. Suppose that’s because I got snotty with Mamaw and showed her my teeth and “my ugly lip” when she wanted to put them damned drops in my ears again? Don’t know really—everything seems to be changed pretty fast around here. Sometimes I just go to my kennel and let that “fast world” go by me.
Mamaw and Poppy watched a VHS tape from 1987 they used around the country for the AOA (American Optometric Association all over the country.) Poppy looked so young and had lots and lots of hair! They had a great time with that. She told him he needs to spend more time in the basement huntin that stuff up cause it’s nice to look back on things. He chuckled…
She went for another walk all by herself. She’s tryin to get her muscles ready for her long walks. Miss Becky told her she won’t need to care for Ozzie’s needs beginning February 21st so she’s on a roll. I just let her go—with those dumb ear bubs in her ears and the music playin on her IPod. Poppy and I just look at each other and smile…
Ozzie got out again with Mamaw for their second round of the day and she brought him back to the house. I was sure glad. I been missin our SNAPS—4 for him—2 for me. Ozzie was happy about that too! Then she took him back home so he’d get used to spending more time there.
“Is that a pork loin I smell you cookin out there Poppy?” It was—they ate it too. Well, not all of it cause Mamaw will use that to make his lunch this weekend so he has a little change. I don’t get a change don’t ya know—I get pellets to eat!
I got one over on em though! Poppy thought I was sleepin so good and looked so cute he didn’t wake me up to go to my bed. Marvelous—sleepin between those two. But Mamaw woke up to go potty and whisked me outta there…suppose I’ll wake up in my kennel in the morning. She’s got her rules ya know? And if Mamaw ain’t happy—ain’t nobody happy! That’s my story and I’m stickin to it…
