Sunday should be a day of rest! But there’s Mamaw—out picking up those awful apples. She is almost possessed with getting them picked up. Well, she’s got a point though—she told Poppy that people are comin by all the time and somebody might fall and hurt themselves so she feels she’s obligated. Hope the spraying works next year so she doesn’t have to do it again…

We took a long walk and to tell ya truthfully, I’m not at all sure I’d be able to make it without that wonderful “walk handkerchief” she got me. It does help to keep me cool…real cool. And when we get back, she leaves it on for most of the day so I got something to be thankful for.

She getting herself all fixed up to go to JIGS today. She’s already met three former classmates and today she’s gonna meet more. She says she’ll be gone a couple or so hours but not all afternoon. When she’s the “walking target” she looks so good! “Where you gonna meet these gals, Mamaw,” I asked her. “I’m meeting up with the first batch at Mickey’s to ride with them—then we’re goin to the Hotel Pattee in Perry for brunch. I’ve never been in the hotel since they did all the renovation work so I’m excited,” she told me. It’s gonna be hot though so I told her to be careful. And away we go…well, I’ve had my walk and I could use a nap now so I’ll see ya later Mamaw.

Oh my gosh, was she excited yet when she got home! There were three more gals she got to meet and they jabbered like magpies. She’s so happy to FINALLY be catching up with them. Somehow they lost her email address so she’s not been involved since the 30th class reunion. Neat…

Emily’s at the door…gonna stay a couple of days. Mamaw was afraid with her busy schedule she wouldn’t be able to make this happen but it’s happenin right now! She’s got her braces off and I’m not sure I recognize her. She’s pretty—and I think she likes me too! She’s had her dinner so Mamaw just fixed ham sandwiches and some chips for dinner. Oh, but she fixed Muscatine cantaloupe for Poppy too. He says “that’s the best—the sweetest melons” and Mamaw says he is right.

Poppy just can’t appreciate the girly stuff the gals want to watch on TV so he went to the bedroom to “do his thing.” The girls got interested in the 1989 movie, Steel Magnolias and before it was over, the kleenex’s were being used. Course I’m tryin to get my hands on one of em but I can’t quite manage that. Okay gals—I’m tired—goin to bed—see ya in the morning. Sleep tight Em!
