Today I decided I needed to let Mamaw know my feelings. She came at me with the halter and I jumped up on the couch like a good girl. She put it on and assumed I wanted to go for a walk. Well, I went outside with her cause I didn’t want to get into trouble but from then on—I just set down and refused to move. She tried going north—she tried going south—no way. I’m not in the mood for a walk so please just leave me alone. She got it—did you hear me people—SHE GOT IT. When we walked into the house she had that defeated look but she and Poppy talked about it and decided I did have my own feelings and they should be respected. I hope she tries to listen to me a little closer next time.

Her frustration took her back outside to pick up the apples. She saw Jessica and Steve (Pepper’s Mom and Dad) working next door at Becky and Collin’s house so she went to see what was going on. Well, here they are trimming the trees (that’s a no-no in a community with “house rules.” They are doing it anyway—Mamaw goes to get her stuff and she’s cutting our trees too! Oh my Lord—she’s going to get into trouble. Mamaw—don’t be frustrated—just leave it alone. If ya want walk that bad I’ll go…the lawn is a MESS. She manages to get the tree limbs picked up and bagged and the rain begins.

She runs into the house and gets herself all duded up cause Poppy is off to the dentist and he says when he gets done there, he’s going to be ready for a BIG breakfast. When they wanted to leave I didn’t want to go in the kennel. I’m trying to exercise my authority—too bad—kennel it is.

Mamaw tells Poppy she thinks they should work on some projects when he gets home. She worked and worked and had to redo a number of times. She hung right in there though—I was proud. Project accomplished—now she’ll know how to do it next time.

After the rain stopped she went back out to pick up all of those apples and I gotta say it looks a lot nicer around the house. No no, back in the kennel—what is goin on? Poppy and Mamaw are goin to the grocery store together. Came back with sack after sack of food.

The rest of the day really wasn’t much to write home about so we’ll skip the boring stuff and just realize that Mamaw is excited that there won’t be so many apples on the ground tomorrow. (smile)
