I love today already! Mamaw went on a “house search” huntin for my collar that’s the halter type. I am so glad…FINALLY she knows why I’ve been bad. I hated that collar that just chokes me all the time and I insist on working against it. I like the halter; the one that goes under my arms and around my chest—it’s a lot more gentle. I was so excited to see it when she pulled it out of the closet that I ran right to her. Then I ran to the couch; just waiting for her to put it on me. And then we went for what I call ‘a real walk’ and we both enjoyed it more. What a fun time we had and really went for a longer walk than usual. Course you know our trail is closed cause they’re workin on the school house so we’ve been goin different ways. The way we went today was just filled with “doggie” smells. I was so good she just praised me over and over again. Well, thank ya Mamaw—now listen to me next time.
The walk being finished, it’s the blogs and the book. She’s really getting about too busy but I nudge her from time to time and we play. Sometimes its with Miss Red; others its K-Kat or Miss Froggy—love em all.
Mamaw says there aren’t as many apples falling now and she’s grateful. It’s a horrible job but somebody has to do it! And so she continues…
I got sick today—3 times! Mamaw doesn’t know what to think of me. This happens from time to time and it makes a mess in the house. She’s learned to take off in a dead run and grab a towel—she says that’s easier to clean up than the carpeting—she had to wash two loads of towels today. Well, then she made me go in my den cause she was afraid I’d do it again. I just stayed in there and watched her clean up the mess. I wouldn’t look at her and she wouldn’t look at me. But she didn’t tell me “bad dog.”
While I’m still in there with the door open, she just comes by and closes it. She tells me she needs a really long walk to clear her head and that I don’t like to walk that far. Okay Mamaw—go for it! I’ll be right here when you get back—and I was. And so she plays with me some more while she cools down. She comes in with sweat running down her face every time she goes alone! Sometimes I worry.
She’s cleanin up—oh, that’s right. They’re goin out to dinner with Eric, Deb and Brooks when Poppy gets off work. Brooks has to leave to go back to college tomorrow so they all wanted to spend some time together. When they got home they let me out and I wanted to play.
Mamaw invited me to the waterbed and I was just too rowdy. I’m trying to bury my bone where she’s layin and she just laughs and laughs. We laugh and play and just have a wonderful time. And before I knew it I had to go to my kennel. (She doesn’t carry me anymore—she makes me get myself there). She says to me, “Miss Scarlett, you are just too heavy for Mamaw to have to carry you like that—just come with me and put yourself to bed.” New rule I guess..
