Okay everybody—stay out of Poppy’s way today. And for heaven’s sake, don’t visit us today. Poppy would be so embarassed... He has a dental appointment at 8:30 a.m. That means we all gotta get around and get going. Just as he is leaving for the dentist, Mamaw and I are taking off for our morning walk. We must look like pretty weird people cause here’s Mamaw—shorts, halter, tennis shoes, IPod plugged into her ears, a hat and a doggy do-do bag. Wonderful walk—I enjoyed every minute of it. The halter works much better for me and I am more comfortable. It was a little less humid too and I got to SMELL EVERYTHING.

Back home and along comes Poppy—Oh my Lord—he’s bleeding from his mouth! Mamaw—Poppy—what happened! Mamaw said, “Now not to worry, Miss Scarlett, Poppy had to go get a tooth pulled and one filled. And when they pull a tooth, there is blood.” And she got around and laid a throw on the bed and encouraged Poppy to just lie down. She let me in with him for a bit but then wanted “the patient” to be able to rest.

he thinks she needs to get duded up and go to Grimes, IA to the new Walmart store so Poppy can rest. Give me a break—she wants to snoop. She was gone quite a long period of time but not to worry. She had put me in the kennel but Poppy had gotten up a little later and let me out. (smile)

She came home and fixed Chicken Noodle Soup for Poppy—and a big chocolate malt. He said he was so hungry. She ate a bowl of cold cereal. And I got nothing—did ya hear me? I got nothing!

More rest in for Poppy—more pickin up those awful crab apples for Mamaw—more in and out of my kennel—and another long walk for Mamaw. She wanted me to go but I just wasn’t in the mood to leave Poppy.

And so the house is quiet—we’re happy and I think Poppy’s mouth has quit bleeding for now. The bad news? Poppy is havin Chicken Noodle Soup for dinner too! And a big dish of Chocolate Chip ice cream. Mamaw had scrambled eggs and toast. And I got nothing—did ya hear me? I got nothing!

Mamaw has taken to taking me outside the front door on the step to brush me. The wind feels good and I LOVE the brushing…if it just wasn’t so darned noisy…quit complainin Scarlett, she isn’t gonna have you out there forever.
