I’m feelin really bad for Mamaw—that hip thing is just terrible. She thinks she can fool Poppy and I but she can’t. We see her limp around and get that “ouch” look on her face. She did take me out to go potty this morning though. And then she got the bright idea she needed to pick up those awful crab apples—Poppy gave her “the look.” Well, she isn’t goin to listen to him so forget it! She got the gate and took it outside then she took me to the front deck—said we both needed some fresh air. She worked and worked and FINALLY got them picked up to her satisfaction.
Oh God—then she thinks she needs to fertilizes the neighbor’s bushes she trimmed and watered her plants. Well, she’ll pay for that if she gets to doin too much—you can take that to the bank!
I think it’s gonna kinda be a pretty quiet day—Poppy is workin. Miss Betty and Alan Dale are seeing him today. Mamaw said short of a miracle Betty wasn’t goin to be pleased about her one eye. Poppy said, “That’s for sure.”
Mamaw gave me a HUGE biscuit this morning (I think she goofed when she bought those). I took it and ran right into the bedroom to bury the thing. I worked so hard I was sweatin by the time I got that thing hidden. It takes a lot of nose-in around to get the sheet to completely cover the bone and you just have to go at it from all directions or someone might find it.
We did manage a short walk around the circle—just cause Mamaw said we needed some fresh air—and it was nice. And then Poppy walked in the door and asked if Mamaw felt like going over to Vicki’s for a while to visit. Mamaw said she’d get around so they were goin to leave and she said to me, “Miss Scarlett, would you like to go meet Odie?” Now, do bears sh** in the woods? We had a lovely evening with Alan Dale, Vicki and Miss Betty. I’ve not seen her for some time cause the rehab center had that dog that thought he owned the place so I was glad to get to go.
And then Vicki invited us for dinner—and a real nice one too! No scraps on the floor...So Mamaw opened the bottle of wine she’d brought from home with a couple of wine coolers and a couple of beers for Poppy and they really did have a good time. Mamaw says memories are a wonderful thing when you lose somebody you love—I’m gonna remember that!
