September 6, 2010 (Labor Day)

I think I’m gonna have my hands full with Mamaw! She’s getting CABIN FEVER already…She’s been outside most of the day. First it’s those awful crab apples (they’re almost gone though), and then it’s the tree roots comin up through the ground, and then it’s weedin the flowers. I said, “Mamaw—didn’t Miss Betty tell you to take time to smell the roses?” She gave me ‘that don’t go there look.’ It was nice though—she put me on my long leash and I soaked up some of the sun too.

She keeps telling Poppy she’s allergic to me and she’s havin problems with her allergies but let me tell ya what I think! She needs to quit worryin about workin outside and do some dusting on the inside. I’m not brave enough to tell her that but later in the day; she sent an email to my favorite, John Swanson, handsome dude and asked about getting the carpet cleaned. And of course she’s blamed it all on me. “Miss Scarlett’s ‘nervous tummy’ has made a mess of the carpet stuff—I’m sick of hearin about it. Anyway, she thinks we don’t have to do the WHOLE HOUSE—just the living room and hallway. That seems to be where I always end up bein sick. We’ll wait and see what’s goin on in that area—as I said, we’ll wait to see—I’m not goin there!

Click, click, click go the keys on the computer today. Poppy’s project needs Mamaw to help find some pictures so she’s worked on that. And the blogs—I DO get to help with that. Then her book and the problems with editing, and the one item she needs from Emily to finish her notebook. I tell ya, the woman has been BUSY!

She became frustrated when I didn’t want to go for a walk so she went alone. And I was unhappy when she came back cause she got to see Lejla.  Well, how was I supposed to know that would happen? And she stopped and chatted with the neighbors or she waves to them as she passes. Who does she think she is anyway?

We swept the garage really good. Mamaw is always so proud of herself when she gets that done. The only thing is, Poppy leaves the garage door open and the leaves just come right back in. Do ya think she gets annoyed with him?

Anyway, he’s home—tired as usual. I wish he’d take some time for Mamaw and me and we could go down to the Pappajohn Sculpture Park. I gave him the coupon the day of my birthday (July 31st) and he hasn’t suggested we go. I also want him to use the coupon and take me down to the River Bridge. Somebody told us at night it lights up and I want to see it; I know Mamaw does too. Should we just ASK HIM when he’s gonna do it, or… Maybe when he’s not workin so much.

Well, all I can say is it’s been another exciting day at our house.
