I sure am missin Ozzie today. A fella is walkin his dog and I beg Mamaw to let me out to see him. It just gets lonely without my friends and I haven’t seen any of em. That business of the noises still has me spooked somewhat and I don’t want to take a walk. Well, she let me out and she talked with the fella and I got to see this cute dog, whose name is “hairy” and he was.

Soon after, I wanted out again so Mamaw told Poppy I was goin on a walk one way or another and off we went. It’s cooler today and I don’t mind it as much. She gives me a little space to just smell up the place too so that helps. Today we got up to the curve on the trail and she took my leash off for the first time. I got to be FREE—but I don’t want to be too free. I go a ways and then look back to make sure SHE’S there. This went on until she sees a man with two dogs comin our way and then she leashed me back up. It was a very nice, but scary, experience and she promised me we could try it again when we’re out there all by ourselves.

The afternoon was long for both of us. Mamaw just worked and worked at the computer on her novel and I had to bother her a couple times just to get some attention. I’m not sure I like all this extra work she’s doin. Maybe we will have to have a “come to Jesus meeting” so I know just what she expects out of me. I can only be a watch dog for so long before I’m bored…I love my toys but they are more fun when Mamaw makes em talk and move this way and that way. We’ll see…

Poppy is home and I am so excited to finally get some real attention! He’s good at it too and I just soak it up like the sun. Mamaw says she’s goin for a walk—I’m NOT—so off she went. She was gone a long time and just got caught in the rain the last block or two.

For Lord’s sake, now Poppy is leavin us. He’s goin to meet an old friend from school who graduated ahead of him. They’re gonna have a cocktail and he’s gonna show the 50th Reunion Pictures from her brother’s class and then he’ll mail them out to him.

Kind of a strange day all in all. I just learn to ‘go with the flow’ and keep out of trouble.
