I don’t know which of them is tryin hardest to kill themselves; Mamaw or Poppy. Poppy is just exhausted from workin too many days and Mamaw is tryin to do all the things Poppy does to help him out and I am worried for both of them.
Well, Mamaw irritates me cause she takes on way more than she should. She isn’t supposed to worry about the “common areas” around this place but she says it reflects on her so she just works and works. Now she’s decided she’s gonna buy some fall mums and plant them in the front so we have a little color this fall. And she dragged the wheelbarrow in the garage that Darrell Swanson made for her. She’s gonna sand it down and refinish it… Jessie from up the street is really good doin a man’s work so Mamaw is getting her advice from her. I think this starts tomorrow.
But first she says she’s got “a hundred errands to run” so in the kennel I go. Well—it’s a good thing too! A terrible thunderstorm came up and it just poured cats and dogs out there. When Mamaw got home, she was soaking wet and said the new Walmart at Grimes “leaked like a sieve.” So no walk today; other than down to the corner where my Ozzie always goes. I miss him…so I go down there and smell him. I gave him a peanut butter bone the other day and he didn’t even give me a kiss—now, just what do ya think of that? He’s losing weight worryin about Cully—I sure wish I could help him with that. I’ve offered to get on my chain and go out and play in the back yard but they haven’t said we can; SO…
Dinner was just lovely last night. Mamaw said she was gonna take care of him so she cooked the butterfly pork chops with his “favorite” fried potatoes. She added fresh melons to that and oh my—I guess it was just wonderful—but NOTHING FOR ME.
Finally at 9:30 Mamaw went back to the waterbed so I could tag along. I LOVE THAT BED! I rolled and rolled till I almost fell off! Then Mamaw said, “You’d better settle down Scarlett.” I lay down with her and rolled over on my back and invited her to do the tummy rub. How delightful was that! Then I just fell asleep until she gave me a nudge and said it was time for me to go to my own bed. I really didn’t want to…cause last night I was with Poppy—sleepin as close as I could get—and he fell asleep and didn’t wake up. Neither did I? So in the morning, there we both were…nice, very nice. Love you Poppy – love you Mamaw.
