Poppy and Mamaw were talking this morning about how fast the month of August has gone. The days are getting shorter too! And I can attest to the fact that the leaves have been fallen for almost the WHOLE MONTH! We think it’s awful early this year…fall and winter that is.
Last year in October I remember the wonderful colors of the fallen leaves and me askin Mamaw “if I could keep em.” I was little then; yet saw that nature is a beautiful thing. Not so much this year. Mamaw says she’s glad she got photos of me with all those leaves so we can remember it—me too! I think I was 4-5 months old and already loved the outdoors.
We’ve got bleach in the washer and Poppy’s hankies and some other stuff soakin. This woman just works, works, works and she says she feels guilty when she sits and writes. I gave her a BIG KISS and told her not to worry about it. She’s worked all her life and deserves a little fun time and as long as she doesn’t shut me out I’m okay with it. Poppy just goes along with whatever she wants to do. (smile)
Those awful apples are just that—awful apples. We’ve had to pick them up two times today! Poppy asked her how many she thinks she’s picked up this year and she said, “Oh, at least a family size waste management container—he agreed! For a while we were goin to Polk City to dump them there and we got tired of that in a hurry! And she found out we could put them in the garbage so that helps cause it is at least a grocery sack each day—sometimes two. I just can’t wait until she’s done with that duty—but by then the snow will be flyin. She doesn’t want to think about that.
Mamaw and I were outside when Cully came home. He just got finished at the hospital. He asked Mamaw if she would do him a favor and she never says no… He wanted her to take Ozzie for a walk so he could get some exercise and “do his thing.” I know what that means—go potty. She took me to the back of the house and hitched me up to the long cable and off she went back to the front of the house to get Ozzie. She told me later she was afraid she wouldn’t be able to handle both of us at the same time. Well, I got to just sniff Ozzie a little and then off they went; down to the trail and up to where Becky always took him before Cully got sick. He pooped two times and just peed on EVERYTHING—that’s a male for ya!
I sure showed her though—when they left for their private walk—I just turned my back on em. No need me watchin and wishin and hopin. I was sure glad when they came back though and she took Ozzie back inside with Cully. Mamaw had a pretty strict talk with me about selfishness—she says it’s our duty to help people out and that I shouldn’t be jealous cause it’s the Christian thing to do. Well, I HAD BEEN feeling sorry for Ozzie with that white bandage on his hind leg but it was off yesterday so I felt a little mean I guess…sorry Mamaw—sorry Ozzie—sorry Cully. Bad DOG!
