The only thing good about the weather today is the sun is shining! Mamaw got around and took me down to PetSmart to get some exercise. I got to see some little kids (about 4-5) and they always get excited when they see me. Sometimes she had to hold me so they could “pet” and sometimes she would say “sit.” We walked and walked up and down the aisles. She let me SMELL EVERYTHING. She has the patience of Job—I swear. We went to the Doggy Day Care Center and watched the dogs there. Mamaw was really surprised because the big dogs acted better when they saw me than the doggies my size. Go figure! The she took me into the hair cutting place to make an appointment for a haircut next Tuesday. (She thinks I should look super cool for Christmas Company).
We were just going to the car when we heard a horn honk—it was Poppy coming to join us! So, he took me back into the store and Mamaw stowed my stuff in the back seat. We walked around some more and saw some of the same kids. The adults just keep telling me how beautiful I am. Boy, I do like that! I try really hard to be a good doggy so they will think I’m well mannered too. Of course Mamaw keeps reminding me I have a big name to live up to…
We all had lunch and laid down for a nap. It’s been very restful and I know Mamaw has had her troubles getting enough rest.
She went out and ran all over Des Moines today to find a pair of those icy shoes…I don’t know what they call em but she came home happy as could be and said she FINALLY found them.
When Mamaw went to the kitchen to begin making dinner, she told me to GO TO THE RUG. That means the rug at the front door and close to the kitchen. She doesn’t want me following her round cause sometimes she steps on my paw and I cry. Well, I went to the rug and she said STAY. When she does this exercise she gives me a liver treat (YUMMY) from time to time. I’d done a very good job of that yesterday, but today I wasn’t in the mood to follow her commands. She put my 4-ft leash on me and hung the looped end around the door knob to make me stay. Okay lady, I can play your game…so I went off the rug as far as I could. When it was time for them to eat, she directed me to get back on the rug. Well, I know the devil just made me stay right where I was. That upset her so she put me in the kennel while they ate and she said to me, “I commanded you to go to the rug and you refused—bad dog”! Well, what can I say—she’s tough.
