Today is just another day in Paradisein the winter—it’s just getting to be old stuff. Poppy is off to work, and Mamaw is getting “duded up” for lunch out at Olive Garden with Judy Swanson. Looks like I might just get the short end of the stick today…

The grocery list has gotten LONG, Poppy has a lab jacket for work that needs to go to the dry cleaners, and Mamaw has a box of Christmas stuff that needs to get mailed to James and Jonn in Michigan. So—YEP, YOU GUESSED IT! The kennel…

I think she’s mad at me anyway cause she put a chew bone in her old sock she gave me and when Poppy noticed I’d gotten a piece chewed off he was afraid I’d choke on it. Mamaw came at me like I was gonna be willing to give it up to her. You gotta be kidding right? I got pretty nasty with her warnin her to leave it alone. Ya know what she did? She went to the kitchen and grabbed her little short broom and came at me with that! I can tell ya right now, I wasn’t about to argue with her then so I gave it up. She’s smart; that on is…

So she got ready to go to the store and couldn’t find the checkbook. She called Poppy, who was on his way to work, and yep he had it! She climbed in the car and went chasin after him to get the checkbook. Now what do ya think people would think about that? She managed to get it and off she went to “do her business.” When she got home she had all kinds of stuff to unload but she first headed to the bathroom. Then she grabbed up her cell phone and called Judy to tell her she was runnin about 10 minutes late; the pharmacy held her up cause Poppy’s pills weren’t ready yet.

She put just the refrigerated and freezer stuff away and all the time she was home, she didn’t say a word to me. And then again, out the door she goes like she thinks she’s got important stuff to do. When she got home I could smell Olive Garden salad, breadsticks and soup on her breath. You can’t fool me…

Just inside the door and she said, “Miss Scarlett, let me get you out of the kennel, we gotta take Mr. Oz out! I was pleased with that anyhow. We got Ozzie and we had a good time outside before we brought him home with us. He headed right for our door, got in the house and went back to the bedroom where he lay and took a long nap. When it was time to take him home, Mamaw remembered we hadn’t had our treats so she called Ozzie to come to the kitchen for our Snaps—he got 4—I got 2. And home he went.

The rest of the afternoon was used up with playin with me, sittin with me and stroking my beautiful fur and reading the paper. Later we went back to take Mr. Oz out again…this time he let us know he didn’t intend to come to our house so we took him home and turned on the outside light for Miss Becky so she wouldn’t have to come home to a dark house.

That virus isn’t better—at 8:00 p.m. Mamaw invited Poppy in to go to bed with us FOR THE NIGHT! Soon she’ll be goin to bed at NOON!!!! Well, we all got comfortable and I spotted her clothes on the chair. I got naughty and got after em—she said, “Scarlett, you can be naughty and go to your kennel or you can be good and stay with Poppy and me.” I tried to be good—but the devil got to me and I jumped off the bed and grabbed one of her socks. THAT DID IT! It was, “Good night Irene” for me!
