It is Saturday. I don’t have much of a chance to be with Ozzie cause Becky is home and she takes him in and out her back door and sometimes I don’t see him in time to get out. And it’s cold so nobody wants to stay out long enough for me and the big boy to have our time. But this morning I had just been out and no more than got back in the door—and I smelled HIM! Course I begged and begged so we went back out. Mamaw didn’t have her boots on so she wouldn’t let me drag her through all the snow to get to him so SHE MADE ME WAIT…that’s hard to do! But finally he got back far enough she told me I could go see him and I was so excited. I wanted to play too but he wasn’t in the mood so I ran down to him—then I ran back wantin him to follow me—and when he wouldn’t, I just ran right back to him again. I love that guy!!!
We packed a lunch for Poppy—he goes to work at Merle Hay today. He said he think he’s feeling a little better and Mamaw smiled. She “accidentally” dropped a couple of corn chips on the floor and I got em snatched right up. Well, what was really funny was Poppy was getting ready for work when we did the lunch thing and when he came out dressed for work, Mamaw was on the computer so he went to the kitchen and began to make his own lunch. Mamaw heard rustling noises (I swear she’s got ears in the back of her head) and came running out to tell him that lunch has already been prepared. Too late—I “accidentally” got a couple more corn chips. Well listen—ya didn’t think I was goin to tell him not to pack his lunch do ya?
Mamaw looks real pretty too. She’s got a date with some of her old friends for lunch today in Ames. These are not the old, old high school chums but they are old too. They all attended the same church a long, long time ago. The kennel didn’t really appeal to me but she’s been home for so long she’s goin stir crazy so I obeyed her and climbed in. After all, she’ll be home with me this evening and I’ll get some of that waterbed belly rubbin so let her go do her thing.
She was very happy when she got home but she was gone most of the day—got home just an hour before Poppy got off work. In fact, she stayed dressed up and was postin a poem on her friend, Lin’s website, Writer’s Block and in the door he came…
I ran up on the couch, turned sideways and spead my legs for my usual “after work belly rub”—Poppy does that so well and I just can’t let him relax till he gives me my attention. When he was finished with that, he asked if Mamaw would like to go out for the evening. She couldn’t say yes fast enough—well, they used to have date night but that got lost a long time ago with some other stuff when Poppy started workin more days.
When she came to get me in the kennel—I REBELLED! Good Lord—been gone all day and want to stick me in that thing again? I made em work at getting me there—but they won in the end, darn it. They went to Nick’s and met a lovely couple they visited with for a long time and came home in a happy, united mood. All I can tell ya is I got out of the kennel long enough to go potty and back to the waterbed for a few minutes and then it was kennel time for the night. I’m sworn to secrecy—did ya hear me? I’m sworn to secrecy. Still upset with those two, I said, “Goodnight Mamaw—might Poppy—can I stay on the waterbed longer tomorrow night”?
