I had to help Mamaw with Poppy’s hankies today. She’s so funny—has to bleach them every so often she thinks—but does she? Well, ya don’t argue with Mamaw when she’s in charge of your bread and butter! I love it when she drops one or two of the hankies and I latch on to them and together we head for the washer. I figure I’ve done my good deed and saved her some time in the process.
Becky next door was home all morning to take care of Ozzie so we were free to “do our own thing.” I miss the ole boy when that happens though…maybe it was good though cause Mamaw sat right down at her laptop and the constant tap, tap, tap of the keys soothed my soul. She’s back to writin her novel again. She spent the majority of the day doin that.
And me? Well, I asked to go outside way too many times because I head straight for Mr. Ozzie’s house to see if he can come out to play. When we round the corner of the house, it is always windy and cold but I just gotta know if he’s out. (smile)
About 4:00 p.m. we went over to take Ozzie out and HE WOULDN’T COME DOWN THE STAIRS TO GO WITH US! So Mamaw said we had to leave cause she doesn’t go into Miss Becky’s house to snoop. Okay—maybe we’ll go back later…and we did! It was getting dark by 6:00 p.m. so we went back, unlocked the door and called for Ozzie to come. Down the stairs he came and he really needed out bad. I always try to get ahead of him cause I should come first with my own Mamaw but he shoved me out of the way to get out first. I forgave him cause he got right busy getting his “business” done. She wanted Ozzie to come to our house but he made it pretty apparent he wasn’t interested, so we took him home. Mamaw turned on the outside light for Miss Becky so she wouldn’t have to enter the house in the dark. She’s thoughtful that way.
Needless to say, Poppy worked again today! And he got home later than usual. I begin to plant my butt on the rug and watch for his return around 4:30-5:00 p.m. Let me tell ya, it was a long, long wait today. And when he came in the garage door I WENT BALLISTIC! He couldn’t give me a belly rub fast enough, I can tell ya that.
Pizza and Coke for dinner—ya know the story don’t ya? Poppy doesn’t like to drink milk when he eats pizza. And Mamaw—she’s so good at rememberin that! I didn’t get any but when they eat their fresh veggies, Mamaw always gives me a little of that. She tells Poppy that is good bowel management—ya think?
They just want to watch TV lots later than I want to so I put myself to bed. I think Mamaw felt guilty, cause she called me back to the waterbed with her. I stayed a long, long time and had a yummy time but I woke up in my kennel.
