Mamaw and Poppy are having a private conversation that I’m not allowed into. I think maybe they intend to send me to lock-up for a few days while they go off and play around this weekend. I’m gonna listen real hard tonight when they talk and see what I can hear. Hope my ears aren’t filled up with wax so I can’t hear them…
Pretty early she’s washin her hair and Poppy is getting around the cape and scissors and I believe he’s gonna give her a haircut—yep. That’s what it is. I want to be right there too but Poppy whisked me up and put me in my kennel and said, “Not for very long Scarlett.” Yeah—I hear ya! He knows I like to mess with her hair—it always smells so good. So—from the inside of the kennel I’m listenin trying to get the gist of their conversation. When Poppy is done, he takes the cape outside to shake it and Mamaw sweeps the hair up from the floor.
Then he’s back in the bathroom—oh my God—he’s goin to WORK AGAIN TODAY! I laid back on the bed and watched the whole procedure as Mamaw was putting away the clean clothes she washed yesterday and getting Miss Betty’s stuff ready for her too. And then soon—Poppy left. Mamaw and I were in the basement and we thought we heard somebody walking upstairs. Mamaw called out and thank God it was Poppy—he’d forgotten his doctor’s jacket.
Nothin stopping us now—it’s walk time. The demolition people are workin down at the school and Mamaw knows I don’t like that so we got my scarf soaked in cold water and got around to go on that walk. She did make me walk down to the corner but I didn’t have to go on the trail; instead she told me to SIT cause the light was red. When it turned green, she said, “Green light—go.” And away we went. All new and different smells today. And we saw an old guy with two dogs (fat little buggers) and we just barely spoke to each other before we were prodded to go on. Good walk.
Mamaw is blogging. Poor lady—she feels so frustrated sometimes. She’s had to rebuild my blog and is havin some real troubles tryin to get the photos on there the way she wants them. I try to help her by going in on her bed (and today I did a really naughty thing – I got my teeth on my new collar we soak to keep me cool and I chewed through it!” When she came looking for me and saw that—she was furious!!!!! Oh my God, I thought she was gonna kill me cause she had fire in her eyes!—instead she grabbed me up and put me in the kennel. She’s not speakin to me…have to wait for Poppy to get home. But she’s bad too—the minute he walks through the door she’ll be tattling on me.
Well, was I right or was I right? She just had to show it to him almost before he got in the door. When she walked by me holding the thing, I just couldn’t look at her. Now I don’t know why I did that—but I did. And now she’s mad at me and won’t look at me. After dinner she sat down on the couch. I usually get up on her lap or lay beside her-- NOT TONIGHT. And she’ll be wantin to go in her bedroom and watch her favorite shows and I don’t expect to get an invite. Thank God Poppy hasn’t tossed me off like an old shoe—a shoe, a shoe; now I wouldn’t mind that either! I was not invited to join Mamaw in the bedroom—that tells me she is still MAD at me for chewing up my cooler-collar. I suppose she is mad—she’s been so busy she didn’t even get a picture of me in the thing (and she thought I was so cute too). I’m gonna just slink off to my kennel and call it a day…
